Find Ancestors

Hello,

I am trying to find out more information on my direct ancestors John Colocott (Born 1811) and his wife Mary Ann Every (Born 1813). Both were born in Devonport in Devon and married in Stoke Damerel Devon in 1835. They later moved to London where I can trace them up to their deaths in 1884 and 1866 respectively.

Is there anyone out there who has any more information that would help me trace their parents (I am assuming they are from Devon)?

Hi,

I have found details of a will online where John Colocott from Devonport in 1848 has left money to a John Colocott who is wheelwright from Southwark.

I think that this proves to me that John Colocott's father was also called John.

However, I can't find any mention of his death in 1848 on this site or any other mention of him. Can anyone help?

Does the will say WHERE he died?? It is usual to see an address ............

There is no address showing. Apparently the original is not online and held at the National Archives.

I can't find any John Colocott death anywhere in the country around 1848. The baptism above posted by Maddie suggests that his wife was Sarah but Black Torrington seems a long way from Devonport and the name is spelt differently so not sure.
