Maybe, they definitely married in 1959. My father was 15 when he was adopted, which seems unusual, though may not have been at that time. However, he only ever recalled charles as his father, maybe bertha and john were not together but had to wait to marry. Charles was previously married but his wife died in 1930, he left the navy in 37, |

As your father was born during WW2, you have to consider his father's occupation. It is unlikely that a fairground worker or sign writer would be a reserved occupation. Presumably Bertha was the informant on Patrick's birth registration. Have you considered that his middle names could be a variation of his father's name please? Is it possible that his father's name was John Gordon? |

Bertha was the informant, and signwriter is stated on his birth certificate. I did not know until now bertha had siblings, I was never told so will need to find out more about that. |

I see that all three children from Charles Naption's first marriage have passed away. Could it we worth contacting their descendants, if any, to see if they are aware of any family stories regarding your father's biological father? |

I am aware Doug and john have died but could not find the other ones death, I have contacted Colin napton who I think is Doug's grandson and I am hoping he responds. I am trying to find Eva pearce and see what other siblings there are. |

If the marriage posted for Eva is correct, she may not have had any children as she was 40 when she married. |

It seems her and bertha had children late, does it say who Eva married? |
