My friend Barry David Lewis b 10.3.39 in Maidstone Kent, wanted to get started on family tree and would love some basic info on his father Leslie and any subsequest family. Can anyone give a "starter for 10"

Are you sure his father was born in 1917? I'm not seeing a birth that matches those details but there is a birth in 1915

You are probably right with that birth Gins.

The poster does say born circa 1917 so a couple of years either side is probably what he is expecting.

He had a difficult early life, brought up by aunt Violet etc so does not have much to go on other than his dad.
I will pass on the starting info and see if it fits in with his recollections..

Barry has a birth sister Brenda Woodley who moved to Noth Wales
Fathers sister was Violet - he thinks she may have married a german ex prisoner of war Hans Heinrich and had at least one child Yvonne.

Barry's Grandfather was a farm owner and antique dealer.

Barry's father separated from wife Phyliss and took Barry to live with Violet.
Phyllis moved to Eltham London remarried and had 2 children Trevor and Paul.

Who did Phyllis C Davey remarry?

Hi Again.

Leslie David had a birth sister Violet - When his wife Phyllis left / they split up, he went to stay with his son Barry with his sister Violet for a couple of years. Barry remembers Violet either married or lived with a german prisoner of war Hans Heinrich and they had a daughter Yvonne. Barry as a child remembered he was a nice man and talked about looking after horses in Germany. He has had no contact with Violet and family after his childhood. Barry had a birth sister Brenda who was adopted i guess after their mother left to go to Eltham London. Barry found his sister Brenda some years later - she is now Brenda Woodley and lives in North Wales. He has nothing on his birth mother Phyllis after she left other than she remarried and had 2 children Trevor and Paul in Eltham London.

All a bit sketchy, but info mainly from childhood memories.

Not sure about link with Cambridge ie Isabella German . Will talk with Barry when i see him and see if info I have been kindly given, prompts any further memories.
