I'm guessing that Valerie is the first name.

The only Florida marriage I can see is the one in 1984.

Added - I've been trying to 'pretend' order a copy of the Divorce certificate via VitalChek which seems to be the prefered organistation for many official BMD certificates.

There is a stumbling block. It requires you so enter the City where the divorce was granted....the information we have only gives the County. It might be Jacksonville

well thats not the same Arthur then as the Marriage already fround was in 1984 unless he was naughty and got marrie dbefore his divorce came through!

Has anyone found out when Madelaine Noxon Learch died...assuming she has?

She died before Richard then. is their a refrence to his buriel?

Although the burial info was linked from Ancestry, it has a website of its own.

There was no burial for Richard in the same cemetery. You could try searching all of Florida/Duval Co through the link. It is always possible that he was cremated.

Which goes with the story that he went to South Africa.
As both conjoint (spouse) and enfant (child) are marked Privé (private) it could very well be that they are both still alive.
Note that it is marked Ex-spouse,also states that he divorced but does not give a date for this.

I'm know begining to think that the two refrences above both the French and the American could in fact be the same person! Have not managed to track down the Marriage cert for Durban..anyone have any knowledge on how to go about getting this?

No have heard nothing from the owner of the tree and after all this time I'm not holding my breath. :-( , but I will certainly let you know if they do.
Can't help for South Africa, have never had to go there so not sure how to go about ordering certs.

The marriage is on familysearch.org. You can see the actual marriage record, so if it turns out to be your man and you would like a copy for your files, then just go the site, put the details in and you can download, or make a copy it.
