Find Ancestors

Well this all ground to a halt as I never heard back about my enquiries unfortunately

I did get some mor info as detailed below if anyone can help:

Richard Arthur Prior of 517 The Gables, Durban divorced Sheila Jean Prior (formerly Leon, born Herman) on or about 24 November 1971. They were married at Pinetown, Natal on 8 October 1965. (Sheila Jean Prior v Richard Arthur Prior WLD Case no. 7021/71). I recieved this information but have not been able to locate a marriage or any possible children.
He appears to have joined the South African Navy in 1956 after having served with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve between 1941 - 1946 and as expected, his name disappears from the Naval Lists from 1961, when South Africa became a Republic.

Had an email back with a positive reponse, my infromation has been passed onto annother member of the family who is still in touch with his south african family so I am waiting with baited breath

No have heard nothing from the owner of the tree and after all this time I'm not holding my breath. :-( , but I will certainly let you know if they do.
Can't help for South Africa, have never had to go there so not sure how to go about ordering certs.

EDIT:- Have just sent another message to Marilyn, but not hopeful as she hasn't come back to her tree since the last time. Fingers crossed.

I'm know begining to think that the two refrences above both the French and the American could in fact be the same person! Have not managed to track down the Marriage cert for Durban..anyone have any knowledge on how to go about getting this?

Just back from two weeks in England.

Which goes with the story that he went to South Africa.
As both conjoint (spouse) and enfant (child) are marked Privé (private) it could very well be that they are both still alive.
Note that it is marked Ex-spouse,also states that he divorced but does not give a date for this.

Although the burial info was linked from Ancestry, it has a website of its own.

There was no burial for Richard in the same cemetery. You could try searching all of Florida/Duval Co through the link. It is always possible that he was cremated.

She died before Richard then. is their a refrence to his buriel?

well thats not the same Arthur then as the Marriage already fround was in 1984 unless he was naughty and got marrie dbefore his divorce came through!

The only Florida marriage I can see is the one in 1984.

Added - I've been trying to 'pretend' order a copy of the Divorce certificate via VitalChek which seems to be the prefered organistation for many official BMD certificates.

There is a stumbling block. It requires you so enter the City where the divorce was granted....the information we have only gives the County. It might be Jacksonville
