Hi looking for a marriage for a Richard A Prior - family story tells of him going to south africa after 1936 worked a music critic on a Newspaper. not sure if he married but assumed he did and therefore possible children. really stuck on this have tried so many differnet ways to find him but have drawn a blank on them all, any help deeply appreciated.

Yes Catherine you have the right family - wow I had never found those before. It is their son Richard I am looking for and he could have only left the UK after 1936 when his illegitamate son was born. I can't find any trace of him after that. I thought he might have been in the merchant navy as we have a photo of him in uniform, but I haven't found any trace of that either. andhe was definately in south africa but I have found no trace of that either.

the entry you found for Richard W C Prior was his father who was in the navy. the firs one is his wife with their youngest daughter Pauline - this if fabuous information that I have never seen thank you so much.

Just seen the date his dad, Richard W C arrived back hmmm wonder if it is coneceted with the Richard I am looking for his son (also Richard) was born in the August!

Have had a look for the family coming back into England, but can't see any of them?

He was only 17 when his girlfriend became pregnant. his father RWC was retired by then and eventually adopted the Richard I am looking for and brougt him up with his aunty pauline . we think the Richard I am looking for was kind of sent off to make his fortune which is where I have lost rack of him. I don't think he returned home we only have this small snippet that he becam a music critic on one of the South African newspapers ....:(

I, not sure am waiting for his birth cert. but it was quarter 3 1919 his middle name is Anthony. I never thought of him being in america, i suppose because of the family telling me he went to south africa - nothing to have stopped him doing both!

Hi Jennifer - I thought that earlier you had said his middle name was Anthony? Does all the other info on the birth certificate match up?

I had assumed it was anthony (it is a family name) all I had was A as a middle initial.

The Birth Cert is the right one I'm 100% sure right parents. just goes to show you should never make asumptions!
