That one and his daughter are still around in 1901 so probably not the right William.

William was the son of John and "married" Amelia with whom had 7 or 8 children Listed with amelia in 1891 census but Amelia then married a n other in 1894. I would like to know what happened to him as the children changed their surname to that of the new husband and my grandfather father and me have been using the wrong surname

Are William Eaton and William Nye the same person? ( I think so)

Why would the children have the name "Nye" in their names when registered in 1877 & 1880 while mother Amelia and William Eaton were " married"

Was William married before as Nye and had to wait until his 1st wife died to marry Amelia.? ( cannot locate a marriage for them as Eaton & Austin nor as Nye & Austin)

All should read Eaton







Would appear that they used Amelia:s surname for the"1st marriage " that didn't happen............ and for the real marriage, her fathers middle name of Austin was used as the fathers surname

So perhaps the info above re William Nye and Mary Ann really is correct?

If all this is correct Anthony, I believe you are who you have been all along.

It does seem strange that William Nyes father is listed as George on the marriage to Mary Ann Roberts BUT he is also listed as occupation " Engineer". just as Williams father 's occupation is also listed as "Engineer" on the marriage to Amelia Eaton.

I still feel that he is the same man though!
