I received a message from another member regarding possible information on his mother. As it turns out, his message may have uncovered another marriage by a distant relative, so posting this for both of our interests.
I haven't found any previous posts for this name, and apologise if it has already been researched.
John Brockbank was adopted out in 1948. He has his birth certificate which states his mother as Florence Winifred Brockbank. Florence was in Islington at the time of his birth.
We have both found a possible marriage to Albert Snooks in 1951. I have what appears to be the same Albert Snooks being married in 1941 to an Elsie Butcher. His initials are the same as is the location, so very possible.
What we would like to find is more details regarding Florence.

That marriage was in the name of Brockbank so which is correct? possible it was a 2nd marriage for both there is a marriage in 1931 which could be her

OK, getting my head around the facts. Being it was Florence Winifred Snooks, makes the 1951 marriage most likely. This would have made her 37 when she had John, then married at 41 to Albert. Seems a little advanced in age but we have all seen late births and marriages before.

SM - 1923 sounds a much better birth year regarding her marriage and the birth of John. 25 when she had John, and 28 when she married Albert. Is Miles her mother's maiden name or her spouse?

Yes Jax, one of the first things I though was that she had been married before, and the Brockman wasn't her maiden name.

Could you try and verify the marriage to Albert Snooks as Florence Winifred? I don't know how, but if we can establish her status such as widow or divorced etc, it might make it a bit clearer.

'IF' she married Albert in 1951 using the surname Brockman, then why did she not use the surname Snooks when she married in 1961.
I think we may have 2 different F W Brockmans.
Again, marriage status' looks like the only way we can verify if she was married before.

In regards to John adopted 1948..

I see births of children BROCKBANK mother maiden name COLLINS to Sept 1947...
Does John's dob fit in with the births listed on FreeBDM?

Also,,I wonder why it lists his mother as BROCKMAN.....by the above marriages she should have been listed as COLLINS or BROCKBANK at the very least?

Maybe she just used the Brockbank name as her maiden name for some reason?

It's interesting isn't it. I'm thinking she wasn't born in Middlesex. What children did she and Albert have?
I wonder how we can confirm it is the correct Florence that married Albert.
It may well be not the same Florence for John, but looks like the same Albert for me.

The thing that worries me is the age. Again 'IF' it is the correct Florence and she did have the children so late in life, then I think the possibility of an earlier marriage isn't out of the question.

But what is hopeful is that the girls are most likely still around and know about her past.
