Keith,
Most Genealogy websites transcribe their own data.... they do not share a common source.
So Findmypast & Ancestry (for example) both have people transcribing the same records... they are all effectively repeating the same task numerous times over!
That's where our subs come into play... part of them go towards the cost of this!
Sooooo, this means different sites can deliver different quality of results. I personally find FMP more accurate for transcriptions then Ancestry.

The 2 stray children are probably in service somewhere else in the country.

I shouldn't worry too much about the Coachman ND bit, it's some over writing that has been written onto Thomas's line on the original, but may relate to another peron.

Thanks for the explanation, Tracey, I thought there would be one (checked??) transcription to which everyone had access, silly me!
And the "in service" explanation makes a lot of sense - now why didn't I think of that! Thanks for the record Andrew.
Apart from the Parrs being pretty common around Newmarket, what can we deduce from:
George Fleet 42 Martha Fleet 42 Fanny Parr 84 >>>>Martha Parr 15 Caroline Sparke 52
Note Fanny, mother perhaps of Martha Fleet, and note the recycling of Martha?
Or am I letting my imagination run away with me here?

This clears up the 1881 a bit for you.
1881 RG number: RG11 Piece: 1680 Folio: 86 Page: 27 Reg. District: Newmarket Sub District: Soham Address: East End, Isleham County: Cambridgeshire -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLEET, George Head Married M 42 1839 Farmer Of 14 1/2 Acres Employing 3 Men Isleham Cambridgeshire FLEET, Martha Wife Married F 42 1839 Isleham Cambridgeshire PARR, Fanny Mother Widow F 84 1797 Isleham Cambridgeshire PARR, Martha Servant Single F 15 1866 Domestic Servant Isleham Cambridgeshire SPARKE, Caroline Visitor Widow F 52 1829 Isleha Cambridgeshire Seems Fanny is George's mother? It might be she's actually Martha's (1839) mother ??
Martha jnr could well be Grandaughter/Cousin/Niece

Yep, Fanny should have been listed as Mother in Law to the head of the household.
Marriages Jun 1863 FLEET George Newmarket 3b 885 PARR Martha Newmarket 3b 885
The above is the relevant marriage.
As Martha jnr is listed on the 1871 census as being the daughter of James Parr, i would suggest she's Martha Fllet's niece.
As George Fleet has land, it was probably an easy way of providing Martha with work and space?

Thanks LiverBird, John Royal is almost certainly one of the sons.
"Can't find any marriages for Betsey Parr to Ball, Batt or Bull??"
"BATT, Betsey Sister Married F 30 1871 "
Is it significant that the status here is "married", ie not widowed?
I suppose this means going back another generation to check parents of James Parr.
Wait a minute, I don't know the maiden name of Jane, wife of Thomas. If this was Batt / Bull / Ball then would that count (almost) as sister of the head of household?

Yes, you're right Tracey, sorry I missed the second reference:
Martha jnr could well be Grandaughter/Cousin/Niece & As Martha jnr is listed on the 1871 census as being the daughter of James Parr, i would suggest she's Martha Fleet's niece.
So to confirm the suggestion, I would need to find Marth Fleet (Parr) parents, find her brothers & sisters, and find Martha jnr's parents amongst them. Have I got that logic right?

Yeah,
You have already been given the 1871 census details with Martha jnr with her father James.
So you will need to find the 1861 & 1851 to catch James with his sister Martha snr to prove the relationship.
You've already got a headstart in knowing James & Martha's mother is Fanny.

The 1851 ties in quite a few things....
1851 RG number: HO107 Piece: 1763 Folio: 134 Page: 20 Reg. District: Newmarket Sub District: Soham Address: Watter Side Drove, Isleham County: Cambridgeshire -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PARR, Thomas Head Married M 57 1794 Bargeman Isleham Cambridgeshire PARR, Fanney Wife Married F 52 1799 Isleham Cambridgeshire PARR, Thomas Son Unmarried M 19 1832 Bargemans Son Isleham Cambridgeshire PARR, James Son Unmarried M 17 1834 Bargemans Son Isleham Cambridgeshire PARR, Royal Son Unmarried M 14 1837 Bargemans Son Isleham Cambridgeshire PARR, Martha Daughter F 11 1840 Scholar Isleham Cambridgeshire It adds Royal into the equation, and establish's James and Martha as siblings :-)
