Depends which cards you let him take Fans.....playing cards? Could be fun on a night out........not.

Back for a while. Got granddaughter here and she's just styled my hair... OH took one look and said "hope no one calls tonight!" ...... must look in a mirror.

What has Ginny said that's 'loving' Renes???? Not like her at all.

Just watched Countryfile and thought of Gins as Julia wotsit shot, cooked and ate a pheasant. She was quite moved but felt it was a complete circle.

Ah....now I understand Renes.

Ja...x, I sent Maria a message earlier which has been opened but not acknowledged. I have just sent my special step by step guide!! Can't tell you how often I send that one out.. So many seem to struggle with the simpliest guidelines.

Oh yea.......I looked like I had stuck my head in a socket! Don't look much better now to be honest!

jax Report 29 Aug 2010 21:29

Oh yeah its all passed down info, otherwise she would know there was not a death in the name she told us and it was pretty obvious that she remarried within months of her husband dying (probably was'nt even cold).

Think I'm losing it thought GR were removing all look up posts but found them now...duh

Okay, I'm not going to start on the people who copy census records from FMP and paste them holus bolus into posts. They are utterly and completely incomprehensible, a block of text that I generally refuse to even try to decipher. I assume that in their original form they have spacing and such. (So couldn't people even just put a space between each of the "householders", even if they won't delete all the completely useless bumph they drag over?)

But jax and everybody else who copies 1911 censuses.

Not everyone is adept at reading them.

This just doesn't make sense when you look at it:

CUNNINGHAM, Florence Wife Married
5 years F 33 1878 Capstan Screw Trade Gloucester Tewkesbury VIEW

Please if you do just one simple thing to it -- go to the end of Married, add a space and hit Delete.

then it looks like this:

CUNNINGHAM, Florence Wife Married 5 years F 33 1878 Capstan Screw Trade Gloucester Tewkesbury

especially if you delete all the pointless "VIEW"s.

See what I mean?

It's

"Married 5 years"

not

"Married
5 years F33"

and it makes sense now!

so are we all on different plants from Gins and each other????????

jax

jax Report 29 Aug 2010 23:29

I did try it the other day JC and messed it up...still learning 14 year old daughter showed me how to delete last week. shame she doesnt live here full time.

Six months ago if I was told to copy and paste a link into the address bar, you could have been speaking another language for all I knew.

The pollypoppet census's get me I would lose the will to live reading them

I do try Janey,I do.

I get rid of all the VIEW s and all the enumeration numbers.

But often when I try spacing etc I loose the whole b~##y lot as it all gets even more mangled and I have to start over.

Yep Ja...x ,I cant deal with the pasted Genes census stuff.
Loose the will to live is too nice a way to put it.
Its all gobbleygook and needs ...................................

So I take it you wont be asking me for anymore 1911 census then Janey..:))

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 30 Aug 2010 01:53

Moi, ask for things??

But only for others, surely. I'm like the little girl who asked for, I don't know, a new coat for her mother for Christmas. Selfless.

I'm still waiting for my large gold statue for that stuff I gmailed you. Half of which, of couse, you ............. ALREADY KNEW.

Yeah, jax -- it's those one's censuses I mean exactly. I should nag her, because she owes me large time. I found her father's sister, if we will all take a moment to recall. I'd thought they were from FMP, they're from this place? Who's surprised.

And who really gives a crap about those enumeration numbers ... not to mention the things we're getting from pilot.familysearch now, the christening records where 82 of the 87 fields are blank ("race", anyone?), and when copied just make it impossible to figure out what's actually there, but hey, we'll leave 'em all in anyway.

Now we need to have a word with Sylvia about her Ancestry census copying practices.

DELETE THE BUMPH!! And the multiple blank spaces that come with it. Employment status, education, disability, whatever all that useless crap is ...

It does make me irritable. I need chicken leek carrot and mushroom pie, that's what I need. Since I made three of 'em this morning -- and I'm talking the crusts too, my mum's canola oil & skimmed milk pastry. I don't go to that bother and just make one of something. One to eat, two for the freezer. Oh, the cannollos are now one to eat, six for No.1's lunches ...

Cannollos?

SylviaInCanada Report 30 Aug 2010 06:53

whajamean????

I do delete most of the non-essential stuff from ancestry censuses ... like all those blank categories
