Looks like JC has a birthday? So i shall wish you a HB and hope you have a good one.

I am now off on my travels again.... I shall hang about for a while longer waiting for replies and resolutions to some posts.

I'm then off til Tuesday at the earliest....off to Lancashire now! Another festival, this one is Creamfields.... and the worst of the lot!

So you'll have to put up with this stranger not being here for a bit again....

Ahhh getting messy is pulling the na' do wells from places they shouldn't be and 'escorting' them off the premises, sometimes that can involve the odd bout of violence....

We do the campsite response and mainly deal with scallies jumping over the fences into the event and robbing the tents.

We are allowed to use 'reasonable' force to eject these people.... but sometimes you do have to defend yourself, and remembering these people are nearly always armed with knives or hammers etc...

It's a proper full on tactical nightmare but we get the job done.... all in black and stealth like, catch the little f'kers by suprise and remove the problem!

The fact we're close to Liverpool doesn't help, mainly because (and without wanting to offend the locals) the jokes and stories are true...if it ain't nailed down they'll take it!

Last year we had about 40 scousers ram one of the fences and forced their way in !! Collapsed a massive amount of fence, it goes down like a domino effect if you catch it right! They also hide in tree's all day waiting til nightfall and then they go on the rob, it's scarey but it don't 'arf get the adrenelin running!!

When a child is adopted at birth, does the GRO ref it, by adding 's' at the end of the page and volume number?

I've just noticed it on a couple a people who have been adopted

What decade you looking at.
I have seen 2 adopted peoples original certs (in fact I ordered them for the relevant people )
One was 1940 and the other 1949 so I can only go on that decade but they didnt have an S on the refs.

Ahhh.

But the one I found for someone in 1971 does !

If you scoll through the indexes those that have an 's' at the end almost always tend to be births where the mother isnt married....

I have 2 adopted at birth certs - 1 with an S - the other not both in 1970s - the S one mother was unwed

I have one1960s with A ref - same wedded parents but childs christian name was changed

I always understood back in the 60 s - 70 s that illegitimate /adoptive children had a " marker" that signified this fact - because if you wanted to join some of the branches of the the " Civil Service" it was a bar to entry

Was thinking - my second adoption without the letter
was born to married parents - then subsequently taken in to care

So at birth it would have been normal - so is not relevant to your question
