no matter how much we try, people still misunderstand who does the work .... note the begining of the posting!

Thanks to the hard work of your researchers, I have managed to contact my long lost half-sister's family. I had never met her and sadly she has passed away but I have been able to speak to her son and am hoping that we will be able to get together in the future.

They certainly do misunderstand Sylvs. I quite often get replies to my pms which mention 'Your' system or 'Your' whatever. Grrrrrrrr.

Jax

You can freeze your chillies - for the winter - they keep very well - I freeze chillies jalopenos and scotch bonnets every year - not for me - OH loves hot spicy food

Also you can preserve them in 40 water/60 wine vinegar in jars - they really have heat then

it would have helped if she'd given the correct initial in the first place!!

Dea did a lovely job on the Shillitoe thread in finding a birth in the Lambeth Parish Union Register

Is there any way of getting up a all the people of certain surname on a persons tree on here?
I know the owners name and a siblings name and its a fairly unusual one but I would like to check who else they haveto be sure I have the right one before sending a message?

Dea

Dea Report 26 Aug 2010 21:37

Fans,

If it is a fairly unusual surname, you shouldn't have too many to check - I think it is just a matter or calling up the surname and scrolling through to link them up with the owners name (which you thankfully know).

I think this is the only way.

Can you do a surname search on search trees and see if they have all of the names on there?
Although of course their knowledge may be limited to the one person.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 26 Aug 2010 21:42

JC is probably the best one to ask....she seems to be able to suss out who belongs to who in the blink of an eye.

The only thing I can think of is to just put the surname into the search box and go through all those who have the owner's name...?????

Garden report.

Runner beans: Sooo pleased with my runner beans this year. I think it is the largest crop we have ever had from 6 planters in our little patio. Have frozen some more this afternoon.

Tomatoes: coming on fine.

Carrots in one oblong planter: small but v.tasty

Onions: not sure yet

Strawberries: just enough for 2 at regular intervals.

Gooseberries: one small bush enought for a crumble.

OH went out for his walk this morning armed with a plastic box and brought back another offering of blackberries. Some eaten, most in freezer.

Feel quite the little horticulturalist I do.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 26 Aug 2010 21:48

There are 353 of that surname to scroll through.

Hmm...narrow it down to 1890 to 1950 maybe?

Edits ...yep that helped ,but no first name that Im looking for and if its the right person they should have it cos its their fathers name.

But the tree owner and sibling are born right time and place (out of Britain) so it has to be the correct one...

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 26 Aug 2010 22:02

Jumps up and down with joy and does cartwheels..
I have them on incoming passengers in 1958 100% cos it gives one date of birth that I know to go with a name...

So I got fathers first name wrong, memory does play tricks at times...
