The most common saying I remember my

A run and a jump up the pantry door

which is what I also used to say to my daughter ...... only we don't have a pantry!

I'm also MUM, and Grandma. OH is Grandpa

J is MUM

we're not Canadianized, let alone Americanized!

I think I said one of our nieces had her 2nd child on the 31 July. The mother is now having a problem with her back ............... her back "went out" on Tuesday, by the next day she could not walk. Her husband had to literally carry her everywhere. She is almost 6' tall, and nicely built!

I don't know whether you know that all your ligaments etc in the pelvic area get "softened" so the pelvis can stretch open to let the baby out. Then they tighten up again after the birth. It seems that something must have gone a bit wrong during the birth at her sacro-iliac joint (the one right in the middle of your bum), and more went wrong as the ligaments tightened up.

She had 2 hours of physio on Thursday, and was able to walk out the door after it (husband had carried her in). She is under strict orders not to lift ANYTHING, including the baby. Husband has to do everything (including nappy changes), 24 hours a day, giving her the baby only to hold and feed ................ she also has a very active 2 year old.

We're just hoping things get better soon.

Brynn Mallory,s mother..?

Do wish her well,I know what it is to have a bad back that stops you being able to walk and do things.

But to have a baby that age and a toddler as well.
Nasty.

Your poor niece Sylvia. Hope the husband can cope with all that! He'll have his work cut out for a while. Hope she makes a rapid recovery.

I'm a Mum and a Nana.

My grandparents were Nan and Gramp - on both sides....is that a Southern thing?

OH used to call me..........oooh...not saying! but it was the nickname of a character in M.A.S.H.

ps. never heard of Jessica Ennis so could easily have walked past her in Tesco's.

Anyone watching Sherlock Holmes??

Sylvia

So sorry to read about your niece / poor girl - how will it be corrected - just with physio - never heard of it before - is it a common occurrence in child birth

SylviaInCanada Report 8 Aug 2010 21:15

yep, Brynn's mother

None of the 3 cousins (those 2 and J) had any children till after they turned 30 .... the other 2 are making up for it now. The other niece is expecting her 2nd at the end of November, and will also have an active 2 year old ...... he's the reason I had to baby proof the house on Friday

he wasn't a monster though

Their brother and his wife are still childless.

MJ's other grandmother is Grammy ...... apparently that is an East Coast Canada thing.

I called my maternal grandparents Mother and Fathet

..... that's because they felt they were too young to be called Grandma and Granddad when my brother was born .................. well, they did have a son who was only about 7 years older than Frank!

so they decided on Mother and Father (as against our parents Mum and Dad)

I came along over 10 years later ..... and they couldn't change names then could they?!

They really spread their family out. Mum was born in 1903, and the youngest son in 1923. Four living children, and apparently no stillbirths.
