Find Ancestors

Frank first appears on 1891 census as 13 yr old scholar living with Emily McRae (widow) and her family. I cannot find a birth cert for Frank or marriage cert for Emily Jahn & Henderson McRae. 1911 census reveals Emily as having had 0 children. Henderson died 1886. Any ideas as to how I can discover who Frank's parents are please?

yes this is his death which supports the year of birth.

Yes this is the correct Frank. Have checked all Emily's brothers and sisters and he doesn't seem to be their child. All Henderson's family disappeared after the 1871 census.

Yes that's him. He died December 1886. Emily is living with her family in the 1881 census but describes herself as 'widow' reporting Henderson's death in 1886. Canot find any marriage cert for either

Yes she really was Emily Julia Jahn (sometimes transcribed as John) and used that name on her marriage to Charles Maddison but on Henderson's death cert she is given the name Millie.
