EDIT
The above census has all the children born in England - so now I am not sure that the later census for Hugh tie in. From the IGI it looks like Hugh was born in Scotland.
The marriage certificate for Hugh and Barbara will be available on Scotlandspeople so you should be able to get their parents from that.
If you give us the details when you get the marriage we may be able to sort out whcich Hugh and Barbara are yours on the census records.

I wonder if this is John's birth? The area is right, parents first names are right.....and I suppose Scouller could be mistaken for Russell if the original writing was difficult to read

There is some information about Glasgow potteries here
http://collections.glasgowmuseums.com/cld.html?cid=533642
John's address on his marriage entry may help identify which pottery he may have worked for.
For Statutory Scottish records, you should register with www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk The site is pay to view but very reasonably priced. 30 credits cost £6 - 1 credit to view search results and 5 to view / download register entries. Entries for births prior to 1909, marriages 1934 and deaths 1959 are available online. For more recent events you have to order certificates and this is more expensive. Statutory registration began in Scotland in 1855. Scottish birth certificate post 1860 give the date and place of the parents' marriage. Marriage certificates give the names of the bride and grooms parents including the mothers' maiden surnames also the occupations of the fathers and the age of the bride and groom.
