For Irish records try having a look at the Record Pilot search at www.familysearch.org

I have had a quick look. If you start by looking for Charles McCormack (more likely to be McCormick in Ireland) as he is only 3 months old on that 1901 census so we know that his birth will be registered before they left Ireland. I can only see 1 that is likely and that is in the Ballycastle District of Antrim.

thanks for all your help I would never have got this far.For the Irish side Mary Jane McCormack what is the best place for Irish records.

I think that all ties in and we have the correct family for Mary Jane.

There are marriage record for 1887 Co Derry for both Edward McCormack and Alice McCreanor but it costs 5 euros to view each record and although I'm fairly sure it will be them I don't have any credits left

Aileen, do you think that could be a second marriage for Edward? Nearly 6 years between Mary and Charles. I am sure it is the correct family so it looks like they had only been in Scotland for 3 months at most. The only thing that concerns me is Mary's age and I am wondering if Annie has the correct birth certificate.

Annie, when did Edward and Mary Jane marry please?

I have tried the 1911 census for Ireland but haven't come up with anything so far. Also tried for a marriage of Edward and Alice but again so far nothing.

Good morning Annie. This certainly looks like your Gran. Address is correct although her age is a wee bit out. Port Dundas is the same district as Stirling Street! Their name has been mistranscribed as McCornack but is almost certainly McCormack.

If Edward and Alice had more children in Scotland then the birth registration will give you / confirm the date and place of Edward and Alice's marriage.

On my grandfathers(Edward McVey) wedding certificate he was
living at 28 Broomhill Street Glasgow and John his father was listed still as a Potter I assume he would have been living with his parents as my Grandmother MaryJane(Macormack) was listed at 9 Broomhill Street,Glasgow
would this be of some help?I was wondering if you cold find any information on her parents. They were Edward Macormack and Ally (Alice)nee McCrenor My grandmother wasborn in Ballynease Ireland district of
Bellaghy,Union of Magherefelt, County Londonderry16th May1890 I have her birth certificate. I dont know when or how they arrived in Scotland.I have my Grandparents wedding certificate that is the only information I have on both sides of my Dads family . It is confusing with both sides having an Edward and a Mary Jane.

From memory, if you're looking at a present day map it will be found around Port Dundas Road and Milton Street. Very near the present day Cowcaddens Fire Station.

John's address on the marriage cert is 53 Stirling Street Glasgow and the marriage was registered in Milton for St Joseph's Churgh (of which there are 7 in the Glasgow area).....there doesn't seem to be a Stirling Street listed on Google maps there is a Stirling Road and a Stirling Street in Cumbernauld. I will try the National Library for old maps.

thank you I will try and register this weekend and see what I can find also about hugh Mc Vey because i dont think his dates match up .I will have to study them more I am really not sure what I am doing !!

For Statutory Scottish records, you should register with www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk The site is pay to view but very reasonably priced. 30 credits cost £6 - 1 credit to view search results and 5 to view / download register entries. Entries for births prior to 1909, marriages 1934 and deaths 1959 are available online. For more recent events you have to order certificates and this is more expensive. Statutory registration began in Scotland in 1855. Scottish birth certificate post 1860 give the date and place of the parents' marriage. Marriage certificates give the names of the bride and grooms parents including the mothers' maiden surnames also the occupations of the fathers and the age of the bride and groom.

I would be gratefull for any information as i am new to this and This is definitely them although besides my grandfather Edward I only recall hearing about Maggie and Hugh I dont recall the other namesMy dads brother was also called John and scouller was his second name when i asked about it years ago I was told it was a family name,so that line seems to be right as well.M y Dad and his family all immigrated to Aust. around 1949/50,and have all passed away so I do not have anyone I can obtain information from, .Would anyone have any idea what pottery place John may have worked or how I could find that out Thank you for any help youmay be able to give me regarding my famiy. or to steer me in the rightdirection.
