I wonder if you can help me. I am trying to find what happened to my aunt. She emigrated to Australia arriving on a ship called BARADINE in 1923. Then she was sent home ill the year Australia crashed then she returned in to Australia in 1938/1939.. It is believed she trained as a nurse over there I also believe she never married She was born in 1903 in Northern Ireland . It would be good to know what happened to her. I know she will have passed away by now. Iwould be grateful if you can help....E

Sorry ,Cherilyn. Iam a silly woman !!1 Her name was Florence Hunter and she was born in Belfast but lived with her dad in England when she emigrated both times. The Ship docked at Sydney but I believe she went to stay with cousins whose name was Rivers. Later we were told she nursed in Brisbane but I don't know if that was the first time she was there or the second.

Hi again

I was hoping for a more unusual name haha...!

Bit tricky...do you know her parents names? If so you can search for her death in NSW at www.bdm.nsw.gov.au

These possibles in Qld:
1962/C3223 Florence Emlyn [father] Hunter William Stuart [mohter] Patterson Emily Jane Mallet

1960/B41406 Florence Phoebe [father] Hunter John [mother] Nason Phoebe G

Sorry I can't offer more.

An Elizabeth HUNTER married Frederick J RIVERS in Orange NSW in 1903? Looks like Frederick died in 1929. Maybe too early.

Hello Cherilyn,
I'm hoping with your fresh eyes and experience you can help me where I am stuck. My g-g-grandparents Angus McPherson and Christina McDonald were married in 1863 in Sandford Victoria. Christina died 1886 in Portland, Vic. Her death certificate gives 5 children: James (dec) Sarah, age 19, Angus 18, Jessie 16 and Jane (dec). I have found birth records for Jane and Jessie (birth name Margaret, later known as Jessie Margaret married name McBean) but none for the others. I know from family records that my grandmother Sarah (she was always known as Sarah Ann) was born 21 June 1867 but I can't find any record for her birth, or Angus or James's birth. I believe Jane (Jeannie) may have died in1880 but I can't find a death record for her or her brothers either. I've tried the Victorian BDM's and the Australian Death Index. I've used every variation I can think of - every spelling, searching under mother's name, parents first names but no luck. I'm hoping you can help, or tell me what I am doing wrong.
It's 6:20 p.m. Saturday now; I will hang around for as long possible and keep checking back. If I don't give a reply straight away it's only because the house has flooded (again, ugh).
Regards, Catherine.

Hi Catherine

Sorry to hear you are in the flooding area, Australia has had quite a run of bad luck with the weather lately! Fires over here in the west causing much heartache.

Think I have found Sarah's death but no luck with the others I'm afraid:

Surname: MCPHERSON

Hi,

Looking for a George White b 1870 in Oxfordshire who reportedly went to Australia and had a wife called Martina who was Spanish. I have found Death Registered George White parents Benjamin and Emma 1950/19086 reg no. Grafton District NSW which would match his parents' names. Any further suggestions for research as to finding his marriage, any children or when he emigrated would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Helen

Hi Cherilyn
I'm looking for Samuel & Annie jeeves. Do you have access to NSW census or electoral rolls about 1870-1900, I have a marrage for them 1864 in england, then no trace of them.
Below is what Iwas sent a few days ago.

[This was in the local paper.

"JEEVES.-The Funeral of the late -Mrs. ANNIE JEEVES, relict of the late Samuel Jeeves, will leave her late residence, Hannam Street, Arncliffe, TO- MORROW (Saturday) Afternoon. at 1 to 2 o'clock, for Sutherland Cemetery, via Arncliffe, by 2.10 p.m. train from Sydney.

CHAS. KINSELA, Undertaker,

Rockdale, and 125 Pitt-street, Haymarket }

I understand she died in 1910 & Samuel in 1906.
what I want to know is did they have any children.

Very many thanks.
Regards Mike

Hi Helen

Don't know how I missed your post sorry! I see you have been helped on other boards/posts for this one, re George 'Wandering' White and wife Martina. Seems Martina died in 1908 in Gosford.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Again, I totally missed your post. My apologies.

Have you been helped elsewhere now?

Annie's death reg 10970 in 1910, shown as dau of Joseph.

The Samuel A who died in 1906 was a son of Samuel & Annie. His full name was Samuel Alfred Jeeves. He was a dealer in 1888 and then a carter. He was an alderman in the Municipal District of West Botany in Arncliffe ward in 1888.

From trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper

The Sydney Morning Herald, Thursday 5 July 1906, p.12

If you do a search on Jeeves at http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/indexsearch/keyname.aspx
you will find you can order Samuel's deceased estate record. I think it is A$15.
