But I am starting to wonder if the names have got mixed up william said his father was John not that I can find him with any of them but increasingly it is looking like Joseph and Jane, I have found a Joseph Jane and son Charles 1851, then 1861 Jane widow Charles and John W, funny enough that is the name William give for the christening of 3 of his children I have also found a Joseph with a brother Thomas so it is looking a bit more promising, I just have to link them together, I found Sarah Ann Kirby with her Aunt elizabeth Pritchard nee Kirby.

I can see the rest of your reply now thanks for that Margaret its very helpful. Just one other favour, can you find a christening for a Sarah Ann to a Joseph and Ann Kirby around Oxford. I have found that the death of Sarah Ann in 1936 who is William (or John William) sister, A Mansfield cousin on her death is in fact Annie and living at Yiewsley in 1936 as I though it might be she is the daughter of Thomas the Blacksmith so it looks like it is tieing in with the tree you sent me. All I need now is to prove that Joseph and Ann had a daughter about 1858. I am not sure when Joseph died but he had died by 1861 census when John W was 1.

One other thing that is puzzling me is Jane is down a Jane Sims in the 1871 Census mother to head of household living in Kilburn with Charles her son a policeman and John W. 10, I haven't been able to find a marriage for Jane Kirby to a Sims or similier, she said she is married but could have been there to help with Charles young baby.

You have been so kind helping me so I hope you don't mind me asking for more.

I have just noticed your piece on Thomas Kirby, this may throw a spanner in the works, Caroline Whitten, not to mention the Mansfields well if nothing else I have got a connection but probably not with the Kirbys that will still have to be proved.

Joseph Kirby married Jane Whitton or Whetton 1848 (Jane born abt 1830)
William Pritchard married Elizabeth Whitton or Whetton (Elizabeth born abt 1811)

That really helps proving, as to the William Kirby witness to Annies marriage is probably not the William Kirby Coachman I am looking for as William was in Hammersmith, Fulham married with children by 1893.

This is getting exciting

I think I may have done this wrong by sending you an email previously, just getting used to the system, so apologies.
Would you be so kind as to look up the marriage of Francis Arthur Benfield to Mary Ann Whetton in 1873 in Enstone? Also if you can find the baptism of Mary Ann Whetton, probably Lower Heyford c 1854. I am trying to establish if Mary Ann Whetton who married Francis Arthur Benfield is the daughter of James Whetton and Dinah (nee Jarvis). Their daughter Mary Ann was born in Baltimore, America 1853, but probably christened in Lower Heyford when they returned home.
The Mary Ann married to Francis Benfield on 1881 census is listed as born in Enstone, which may not be correct. Hope this makes sense

The church is St Augustine of Canterbury.
The Chapel at the east end of the south aisle in the church of St Augustine is a rare occurrence of a Roman Catholic Chapel within an Anglican Church. Historically it was used by the local Eyston family and access is now possible after many years of being kept closed.

The above marriage is given as the couple started married life in Deddington and moved to Somerton at about the time that Maria Green would have been born... she is missing from both Deddington and Somerton baptism registers. There is a gap where her birth would fit in nicely. The parents are producing children at 3 yr intervals.. there is a 6 year gap where Maria would possible fit in.
Couples moved between Deddington and Somerton, I have some myself.

Thank you for contacting me. I am having a real problem trying to find the parents of George Young born in 1822 in Chalgrove, Oxfordshire. I thought the parents were a William Austin Young and wife Ann but the dates dont work out and I think there are two couples called William and Ann in Chalgrove at that time. My George married Lucy Tyler and died at the age of 33.
Any help would be much appreciated.

There is only one entry for a baptism of a George Young in Chalgrove 19/8/1821 George son of William and Ann Young.
This William and Ann only have one child baptised in Chalgrove that is George 1821.
Where did George Young marry Lucy Tyler? if you have not bought the certificate, if they married in Oxfordshire I could look the marriage up and see what the fathers names were.

I see that there's another Patricia on the thread, so have renamed myself!

I wonder if you could help find some births/christenings for me. The surname is Guiyatt; I know the names of some of them but am trying to verify if they are the same family and if there are any more of them.

Father is William Guiyatt, born in Hampshire c1779 and mother is, I think, Ann Chapman, b 1782 in Shinfield Berkshire, so not Oxfordshire births. They married in Reading on 25 November 1804.

The children were all born in Oxfordshire( Kirtlington area I think) and were possibly:

Mary Ann c1805
Elizabeth c 1812 (I know she is the same family)
Jane 1815 (I know she is the same family)
Emma c 1819
Sarah c 1827

I don't know if there were any more of them, but probably all girls unless any boys died very young

I seem to have typed the same date of burial for George Emmanuel Guyatt and his mother Ann Guyatt.
George Emmanuel Guyatt was buried 27/4/1817 aged 6 months.

Thank you Margaret - I do not have the certificate of marriage but have found that George Young and Lucy Tyler were married in Thame Oxfordshire in 1849.

Thank you so much Margaret for this information. I can begin to fill in the puzzle after so long; was surprised to see the boys registered but obviously they did not survive sadly. There were several more children than I thought.
