Hi Margaret
Me again, hope you don't mind...
I have just been looking on Ancestry.com for a Frank Evans birth in Oxford, and one came up in qtr 3 1918 in Headington which could be the one.
Would you be able to look this birth/baptism up for me please? I noticed on the map that Headington is near to Cowley, so fingers crossed.
Thank you once again for your help, it is very kind of you.
Kindest regards
Dee

Hi Margaret Rose,
Please can you look up a marraige between Charles Phipps (born circa 1867) and a Charlotte (born circa 1871) in Littlemore area?
I am trying to trace her maiden name and when they got married - would guess about 1890!
They had 5 kids Frederick, Lilias, Gladys, Florence and Gertrude. Think there might have been a sixth who died as a child??
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers
Melanie

MELANIE Sorry cannot find a marriage on the Oxfordshire Marriage disc for Charles Phipps c 1890 to a Charlotte. The baptism in Littlemore of their first son gives Charles and Charlotte Jane Phipps as parents. The baptism of Charles Phipps c 1867 is 10/6/1866 Littlemore son of Gabriel and Jane, he a labourer.

AMANDINE Sorry there are too many parishes to search for your George Luckett in Oxfordshire, and I do not have registers for Brill. The marriage that you already have to Sara Brooks here are the witnesses etc George Luckett married Sara Brooks who made her mark, in Bampton, at this time they were both of this parish, witnesses John Wright, Henry Bartlett.1/11/1779

Hi Margaret
I wonder if you would mind looking for a Elizabeth Sulston in Chinnor, Oxon for me?
There are two, one born about 1823 & another born around 1829.
Would you mind having a look for their parents please. Anything on Sulston surname would be interesting, particularly the children of John & Sarah Sulston of Long Crendon & John & Rebecca of Ambroseden. They are all related. Thank you. Joan

JOAN of Arc(hives) Part of your query reply
There is no record of a baptism in Chinnor for an Elizabeth Sulston in 1829.
The following are in Chinnor.
Elizabeth baptised 23/11/1823 born 29/4/1823 daughter of William and Mary Sulston of Henton a farmer. Henton is a hamlet almost on the boundary of Bucks and Oxon the old line of railway that ran from Princes Risborough to Thame Town passed fairly nearby. There are just a few posh houses down there now, and a posh pub called I think The Peacock, this place is only down the road from where I live.
Alice Curryer Sulston daughter of William and Mary Sulston of New Close Farm baptised 16/4/1827 born 3/3/1827 this is the only other child baptised in the years near to your definition.
The parents of the above children
William and Mary Sulston were married in Chinnor
1/12/1819 William Sulston born Crowell Oxon married Mary Curryer spinster by License in Chinnor witnesses Thomas Sulston Jane Wheeler, George Curryer.
There is a William Sulston baptised 11/8/1793 Crowell to parents William and Hannah Sulston there is a brother Thomas Sulston baptised Crowell 31/12/1799 as well so he may be the witness to the William and Mary Curryer marriage.
There is a marriage of William Sulston to Hannah Ratford in Piddington 15/4/1790 which may be the parents mentioned above.
John Sulston of Piddington who signed Salston married in Ambrosden Rebecca Tomkins witnesses Richard Clark, John Shouller a regular witness. 23/10/1794
John Sulston of Piddington married Hannah Haynes who made her mark, also of Piddington married in Ambrosden 8/10/1804 witnesses Edmund Driver and John Shouller.
There was a child John baptised 27/9/1795 Ambrosden son of John and Rebecca Sulston of Piddington.
There was a child Ann daughter of John and Anna baptised Piddington 20/10/1805 down as Selstone on the register.
There was a burial of Hannah Sulston aged 72 yrs 4/1/1847 of Piddington in Ambrosden.
I cannot help with the John and Sarah Sulston of Long Crendon it is in Bucks.
Let me know if you require more information

Thanks for this information Margaret.
I suspect that my Elizabeth Sulston (birth varies between 1827-30) may have been born in either Long Crendon or Chinnor, she puts Chinnor on all the censuses but I think she may have been baptised either Ambroseden or Long Crendon as that seems to be where the family came from/lived in those years.
