50000000000000 replies so far.....(nar nar nina nar nar to other looker uppers!)

Do you want a look up? Census, marriage, birth? (not Ireland/Scotland sorry)

Yes i'm being sarcastic!

The boards have changed since single members have started thier own threads offering look ups.

Bring back the good ol' days on the GR boards.....We used to work together! It was fun and i miss it as it used to be...

Gerri AKA Hyacynth x

PS...or as Margaret has pointed out....Hyacinth ;-)

There is no way that I would start a thread offering to do lookups.

Too many members post on those lookups threads when they have already asked for census help.

Get enough pm's asking for lookups anyway.

Would you like to look for my William Smith in 1861?

Cheshiremaid Report 3 Aug 2008 00:11

I so agree Gerri....I was just getting used to doing look ups for other members especially after my daughter showed me how to copy and paste... then the boards seem to change!!

Jim, is it possible that your Henry Abrahams anglicized his name from Solomon?
There's a Solomon Abrahams age 4 on the 51 census, born Cornwall. His parents are Alexander born Germany and Harriet born Poland. He's still Solomon on the 61 census where it says born Falmouth, Cornwall. Can't see him on the 71 census, (Because he changed his name to Henry?)

Hyacinth, you're so right.

I hardly come on the boards anymore. They're so boring. A couple of years ago there was camaraderie, banter & a feeling of doing battle against the transcribers together.

I just browse occasionally now.

Hi Hyacinth

You are so right, I love the chase to find them before anyone else does ;-) And it always makes me chuckle when someone has been looking for years and within 5 mins 3 GR members all post the same correct info. I think you're all psychic ;-)

On another subject, it was mentioned earlier about the £9.95 for six months. I've just renewed my subscription and it's back to £9.95 for 12 months. Or was it just the first 6 mths at £9.95 and then 12 mths thereafter?

Regards
