I got caught out with this scam about a year ago.
I paid to find out information - what they found I already knew, then they wanted more money to do a further search and find more - that's when I got suspicious - so I complained and to cut a long story short I did get my money back.

I find that some of the HELP given on Finding Ancestors board can be quite abrupt.Ok we sometimes get our postings wrong and duplicate them but some answers are a little bit condescending and can be read as a little bit rude to the person asking for help.As you say we do pay for this site and asking for help can be quite daunting especially to new comers.Onchecking a lot of replies I find that the attitude on some people are not very encouraging as to asking for further help.I think it will be quite a while before I ask for help again.Will probably not renew my membership when due.

I'm still seeing Ancestry.com.au ads nearly and it must be two weeks since I reported them to GR.

Anyone in the UK think they could do a better job than the current Marketing Manager because I think GR needs a new one.

Jemma - you can't blame GR for the sometimes off-hand or critical comments on Find Ancestors, the replies are all from other members. Yes we pay to use the site, but GR aren't there to do our searching, only provide some facilities. ( They do sometimes unasked send possible connections). Most members who search for you are very helpful but there are a few who don't seem to realise what an unknown country this is for beginners! or even more experienced ones who get stuck with brick walls

Wow several error messages in a few minutes. Hopefully it is due to the site being updated and not a result of the update.

I haven't seen an error message for ages (insert smug face emoticon) however I have an equally annoying variation.....

'Genes Reunited is not responding'.....and my ie goes bang! :-(

I get that message too. Also get" unable to find the page at GR "or" the link to the server was broken while the page was loading".
Like you, only on GR. Other sites no problem.

I'm still getting the Error message when submitting posts, and about 50% of the time when trying to open My Threads

I'm also seeing an error message when trying to move around the boards. Most notably when trying to move through threads that have numerous pages.

But after seeing Ancestry ads everyday since the 19th May there hasn't been one yet on the boards. Fingers crossed that problem has been fixed.

Spend ages trying to get on to the site, then keep getting timed out when I try to open posts=move round the boards.
More than a little fed up now. :-(
