Just spent 12 minutes trying to get connected to the site. Kept getting "unable to connect, possibly site too busy" message.
When I finally managed to connect to the site, the home page said"7 posts in the past hour"
Busy?????
Genes seems not to be compatible with Firefox.

I started to look at this thread because the title said it all.
I have been a member for several years, and I just want to say that I am not impressed with the new site at all! I find it awkward to use, links don't work, on one page it tells me that I have matches, but when I go to look for them it tells me that there are none! I can't upload photos. Records that I have viewed before are suddenly not there anymore. The list goes on.
Unfortunately I only renewed my membership in March. I won't be renewing again!

Hello Dawn,

Sorry to hear your tale of woe.

You are not the only one, some of us suffer only minor problems, others as you can gather from the posts on this thread are in the same boat as you.

Can I ask if you have reported 'your' problems to the 'help team', via the on-line link?

Genes Reunited always ask you to send error details to them, it's supposed to help them....... ;-)

When is this problem going to be sorted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least 6 error messages in the last 5 mins.

Submit a reply on a thread - error message

Click on community tab - error message again and again

Really fed up as the problem has been going on for over 6 months now

No point in sending details to the support team as they do not read the message and you get the standard reply about browsers etc

So I ask again just how many times does this error message have to be logged before the Team take this problem seriously.

At least 6 times before getting back to Home Page

So makes more than ten error messages so far tonight that should have been logged but I doubt the Team even bother to look at the error logs

SCREAM !!!!!!

What is wrong with this site tonight.

Got stuck on error message so have recorded at least another 15 error messages. So can back onto site through my favourites

Click on Community and got error message. Got stuck again on error message and recorded at least another 10 error messages.

So back in agina through favourites.

Not holding out much hope for the rest of my sesssion on site tonight

Well the whole site is becoming a waste of time

Did bother to send a message to support about the number of error messages I have got tonight but will just get the standard reply back.

Have spotted a couple of members that have had their replies on threads duplicated so obviously some problems tonight


UPDATED after 15mins

At least another 8 error messages since. That is well over 40 error messages tonight


UPDATED at 1.18

Another 15 error messages when stuck on the error message. Home Page is taking for ever to load properley

7 am British time.
Logged on. Home page says 6 new posts in the past hour, so site not busy.
Got on to Chat board, tried to open a post.........error.
Every other board.......Error, error, error.
Finally got back on at 7 28 only to be timed out on Ancestors board.

I have to sign in at least 50% of the time, even though I don't sign out.

I'm in Oz........ but the site automatically takes me to Genes.UK !

So I sign out...... and after several attempts I eventually get back to genes.AU

And then get constant Purple Error Messages! Clicking on the GR Logo doesn't do anything...... click........... click.........click........ and I'm out of the site completely.

In the last five minutes I think I've seen 20 Error Messages. Everywhere. Signing In. My Tree. Mailbox. Community Boards. I replied to a message with no problems........ sheer luck? Were the GRemlins looking the other way?

Fed up with this, so no more today......I'm going to read a book.

I thought things were improving (slightly) - somebody has been tinkering again

:-P

I wonder if this will get on the board without a Purple :-PError :-PMessage :-P appearing?

Looks like GR now considers 6 posts in an hour as being really busy. Mind you the shambles the site now is probably means that they wont get even that many soon.

Error message when I try to read the latest posts on this thread.

GR have just taken a years membership, been a member for years now.

But with all the issues will certainly think twice about paying next year

Well after my updated posting at 1.15 this morning I had another 5 or 6 error messages before I gave up.

Just had three error messages trying to get on to the Community Boards.



I sent this message late last night -
Feedback re error messages
I have had at least 30 error messages tonight. Worst problem is getting stuck on error message as clicking on logo does not work to bring you back to home page. Have only got back on site by using my favourites.

Have asked this question before and not got an answer but how many times does the error message have to be logged before the team work on the problem.

Please do not bother asking me what brower etc.

Surely they have been aware of this problem for more than 6 months so when is the technical team going to do something about it !!!!!!

Has anyone from the team bothered to read the boards about the many problems.

I had more than 60 error messages last night and it is simply not good enough.

When is someone going to answer a question that I have asked before - how many times does an error message have to be logged before the team take action ?

Also when is anyone actually going to read the messages that are sent to the support team and give a proper reply rather than a standard message.

While I was trying to use this site at lunchtime had over 30 error messages so gave up.

Thanks for your email, and I'm sorry to hear that you're still having trouble accessing the site.

I've just tested the links for the community and message boards and I haven't been able to recreate an error the message boards are all oopening correctly for me.

It sounds like the problem may be that your computer has 'cached' the last page that you looked at and is not recognising a newer version of this website page.

You simply need to clear your browsing history and then sign back in to the site again. This is different according to which browser you're using, so please refer to the help pages for your browser to find out how to do this. You could also try these websites for help with clearing your cache:

I hope this helps, but please let me know if there's still a problem.

Thank you for taking the time to write back to us. I understand your frustration with the error messages you have been receiving.

I have read through the postings on the message boards and it looks like there were issues over night with the site being busy. I have tested the site for the error messages this afternoon and have been unable to re create them.

I am using google chrome and have been looking at various pages on the site and tree with no issues. Do the error messages happen on any particular page that you click on Maureen?. I can then test this further and see where the problem lies.

Please also try clearing your cookies, cache and refresh your page this may help.

We would like to apologise to anyone who has experienced the error message or has had trouble logging in to the site today. We identified a line of code that was hampering our system and this has now been updated.

Still not got an answer to the question of how many times the error message has to be logged before the Team act on it !!!!
