Namelessone thanks for the welcome sorry about my post formatting. The story I have is Hugh Brolly and Jane Mcniven were married in 1955 ,I was born up here in scotland in 1964 my birth mother was Jane McNiven and I was adopted out straight away , I cant find her mentioned anywhere after 1964

Scotland is key! One only only access Scottish records on Scotlands People. It would seem that your mother returned to using her maiden name.

By using the website freebmd.org.uk (England & Wales) you would be able to find the births you mentioned. You may find their marriages/deaths there or you may need to use the records on one of the big companies

By obtaining Hughs marriage certificate you should be able to find the names of his parents and then using that information you may just track down your half siblings.

Thanks Maddie I think the first one hugh B Brolly died in 2002 may have been the husband in 1955

You refer to your 'birth mother' and your immediate adoption, yet you give your surname as 'Brolly/Brolley'

Were you adopted by a couple named Brolly/Brolley?

David may have been originally registered in his mothers married name and then she reverted to her maiden name when she signed the adoption papers.

That is what I took from Davids post yesterday at 15.58.
