I dont know Shirley maybe a quick divorce then reunited later years?.

David has probally got his adoption file and it shows more details,plus his original birth certificate has extra information.

Jane & Hugh's son born in 1958 married in 1988 and had two daughters.

David was born surname Brolley so the Jane who married Conkie can’t be the right lady

Brolly wasn't David's father - in spite of the birth reg being in that name

Can those who found births for a Jane McNiven please check and see if her father was George. I can't quite read his occupation but it was Iron.......

She gave her age as 21 making her DOB around 1934 .

We have no idea where Jane was born - not necessarily Scotland.

It's all guesswork until David gives us the details from the marriage cert.

Well, that narrows it down a bit.
It will be interesting to see if the 1933 birth is the correct one or not.

Assuming she was born in Scotland, the 1933 Hutchesontown birth is the only one for a Jane without a middle name.
The cert will give the names of both of her parents, and the date and place of their marriage.

Hugh Brian brollys father is listed as William Brolly a labourer and shock absorber maker His wife E Brolly was a witness.
Jane Mcnivens father is listed as George McNiven an Iron Driller .The other witness is an R Mangham

Hello. I am one of the two daughters of Brian Brolly. His parents were Jean/Jane McNiven and Hugh Brolly along with his sister Margeret who is still alive and well in York.
Jean had other children in Scotland also that we are aware of but wasn't sure of names, except a Aunt we have named Sally who was my dad's half sister.

My dad passed 25 years ago to the day, and Jean (my grandmother) before that and we never knew her.

If I can be of any help do get in touch, although we know very little also about your Mother I'm afraid.
