you have to buy the cert from
www.gro.gov.uk
register, free, and then follow the order form. Use the names as they are the GRO record and tick that box that asks if the GRO ref is known .fill in the ref in the boxes as they show
certs cost £9.25 each in p&p

PROCTER, ROBERT SNAPE GRO Reference: 1885 J Quarter in CONGLETON Volume 08A Page 301
Marriages Dec 1875 Procter William Henry Congleton 8a 456 SNAPE Sarah Ellen Congleton 8a. 456
Strange though the difference in his birth year
Think you do need his marriage cert to Bertha for his dads name

But there's more than one Robert Procter born c 1882/3 so to identify the right one the father's name from the marriage cert would help According to the army records he was 32 years and 9 months when he sighed up and was born c 1883 not 1885
He may not have been born in Cheshire although he lived in congleton when he signed up

I can't see Blanche on the 1939 register sorry
There were no electoral rolls taken in WW2 so there's no way to check
It's possible that was the postal address of the hospital as its pre the NHS and often the hospitals had been associated with the workhouses
Folks objected to any ref to a workhouse hospital on any certs because It implied they had been in the workhouse so it became the norm to put the hospital postal address instead
The hospital may no longer exist
Or it could have been a home for unmarried mothers, again they would use the postal address

So would it look like she didn't return to Congleton after giving birth??, she was only 20 and it said she was a stationers assistant on the birth certificate maybe she stayed for work.
the address of the house where she was born was Seymour grove in heysham Morecambe is there any way of finding out who lived there in 1941? or what it was in them days? my nana was told she was adopted from a unmarried mothers home at queen street in Lancaster there has been nothing said about any houses in Morecambe so would be interesting to find out who lived there if I could
Thanks

You need the marriage cert for his father's name so as to identify the right Robert Procter
Not seeing an obvious marriage for William so his death cert too could be helpful with the informants name

Thanks for your replies! Yes on the birth certificate it shows Martha and Blanche living at 6 park view Congleton. Don't know what this means though? maybe she stayed in Lancashire after giving birth. the other people I have found are 'Robert Procter' - blanches grandfather William a Procter - her brother? who I've then found married Gladys Wilson in Macclesfield and had a son Robert w procter.
