I am looking for Cameron Michael Leslie Ainsworth born in 1944 or any of his relatives

In which country was he born?

And what have you done so far to try to find him?

Hi Jacqueline, yes he was adopted, he was born in Brighton in England, I have been searching for years but do not have his new name so I keep trying hoping that he knows his birth name and may reply

If you are a relative then add your name to the National Adoption contact register

You could also add a postem to his GRO birth ref on FreeBMD

No-one other than you has him in a GR tree.

IF you are a blood relative, add yourself to the national adoption contact register

If he knows he was adopted, and has any interest in finding blood relatives, he may have done the same

Thanks Shirley but I did that years ago. I know exactly where he was born, I've been in touch with Social Workers and the like and they are not allowed to give me his new name and they could find no trace of him on any records anywhere, they knew his name but would not tell me, so I am stuck unless somebody knows him, knows he was adopted and that this is his real name. What do you mean add a poster to his GRO birth ref on Free BMD - don't understand

Thanks Jacqueline, but as mentioned to Shirley I have added his name to the Adoption Records and Register years ago. I have searched GR trees and no luck there. I will keep trying when and where I can. I am a blood relative, sister.

Look at the birth on freebmd...............and click on the option

Maureen, if you've found the birth on FreeBMD at the right side of the record is a link that says Info, it's in red. Click on that link and it takes you to a new page where you can add a postem.

Apologies, Maureen, should have given detailed instructions about adding the postem...........hadn't realised you weren't familiar with the site

I must be a bit dense Jacqueline, I can't for the life of me even find the freenBMD section, only the BMD at the start of the site or when I log on, cannot see any red link that says info to click onto

Do you know the date of birth ?

Hi yes, I know where and when he was born and I have contacted social services and was put in touch with a very helpful lady to help me look. He was born 10/1/1944 at Bevan House, 11 Finsbury Road, Brighton. They found his adopted name and did all the searches but came up with nothing, no medical records, death records, social services records or anything, they told they had exhausted all avenues. They wouldn't tell me his adopted name, so my only hope is that he, or someone he knows, knows he was adopted and that he knows his birth name and wants contact. I have tried all social media sites, left his name everywhere but with no luck. He would be almost 71 now. His mother, my mother, is still alive, she is 93 and only told me about my brother in the last 10 years. I have even been in touch with WDYTYA but they said they couldn't help me, so I am at a dead end

In September I posted this message on GR:

Children, grandchildren and other relatives of adopted adults will be able to trace back through their ancestors' lives under new rules published on Thursday.

Previously only the person adopted and their birth relatives were able to use specialised adoption agencies to help shed light on their family history and make contact with biological family members.
New rules will extend this right to all relatives of adopted adults, allowing greater openness in adoption while ensuring adopted people have the right to a private family life.

Those who have lost a parent to cancer or heart problems will be able to discover whether their grandparents or other birth relatives suffered from the same conditions, giving them the chance to seek advice and support.

Descendants should be able to access important information such as medical records or genetic health conditions and also be able to find out about important events from their past, as well as make contact with family members of they wish.

New rules should be in force by November.

Perhaps you should try Social Services again.
