Thank you for that Pam. I have been in Australia for a while and had no idea of the changes. Have to admit after nearly 5 years of exhausting all the avenues I could think of I have had a break from it but am now ready to start looking again, although now in Australia I think it will be a lot harder. I do still have the emails from the social worker and people who were helping me so I will contact them again and see what eventuates. Many thanks for your help |

Hi yes, I know where and when he was born and I have contacted social services and was put in touch with a very helpful lady to help me look. He was born 10/1/1944 at Bevan House, 11 Finsbury Road, Brighton. They found his adopted name and did all the searches but came up with nothing, no medical records, death records, social services records or anything, they told they had exhausted all avenues. They wouldn't tell me his adopted name, so my only hope is that he, or someone he knows, knows he was adopted and that he knows his birth name and wants contact. I have tried all social media sites, left his name everywhere but with no luck. He would be almost 71 now. His mother, my mother, is still alive, she is 93 and only told me about my brother in the last 10 years. I have even been in touch with WDYTYA but they said they couldn't help me, so I am at a dead end |

I must be a bit dense Jacqueline, I can't for the life of me even find the freenBMD section, only the BMD at the start of the site or when I log on, cannot see any red link that says info to click onto |

Maureen, if you've found the birth on FreeBMD at the right side of the record is a link that says Info, it's in red. Click on that link and it takes you to a new page where you can add a postem. |

Thanks Jacqueline, but as mentioned to Shirley I have added his name to the Adoption Records and Register years ago. I have searched GR trees and no luck there. I will keep trying when and where I can. I am a blood relative, sister. |

Thanks Shirley but I did that years ago. I know exactly where he was born, I've been in touch with Social Workers and the like and they are not allowed to give me his new name and they could find no trace of him on any records anywhere, they knew his name but would not tell me, so I am stuck unless somebody knows him, knows he was adopted and that this is his real name. What do you mean add a poster to his GRO birth ref on Free BMD - don't understand |

No-one other than you has him in a GR tree. |
