Mmm Swans might pull the suckers off the window :-D..The squirrel is the heaviest thing on my feeder.
Graham I hope you have a good long garden for the Swans to take off :-D.
Vera I hope you didn't have drastic things done at the Dentist..Funny how the poor Dentist must be the most hated place to visit. :-S

I live by a canal; and I can here the swans taking off. It's like living next to Heathrow :-D

I done some shopping earlier and saw some of those fat balls. £7.50 a tub! That's more than I spent on food for myself!

I won't tell you how much I have spent in the last 2 weeks on bird food :-S :-S.It's ridiculous :-0 :-0.Haven't told OH how much I spend on my little feathered friends :-D.He would think I am MAD.

I only feed the birds when it's snowing or the canal's frozen over. A few years ago quite a few of the swans died during the winter due to the cold weather.

Graham ,I was watching a programme the other night about how many Barn Owls died too a couple of years ago because of the harsh winter .They starved :-( :-(
My lot of birds here must be right little porkers with all the food they are scoffing at the moment !

Too wet for any birds here today but I had a laugh yesterday watching a robin and a blackbird having a competition to see who could throw the most leaves round the garden.

I'm just off to Homebase with a voucher for a free pack of suet cakes which the starlings in particular seem to love. I'm all in favour of anything that comes free :-D

Me too Vera. We have had blue and great tits and a female blackbird in today as well as the 2 usual collard doves. Not eating much though but I am sure theya re still getting bugs to eat off the plants as I have watched hem foraging. Yesterday the doves were funny, sitting there in the pouring rain cleaning themselves as if they were having a shower.

I have checked out your photo Jane and not convinced that it's a Red Kite, I have been to the Red Kite Centre in Rhayder many times and the red Kite's head is on the grey side in a lot of cases unless it's a young bird. I cannot enlarge your photo without it going all distorted with pixels so cannot check it out properly .

It's a lovely photo and I'm going to go with my in-stinks and say it looks like a Honey Buzzard but they usually head for warmer climates by now. I have sent a copy to my brother who works for the nature trust.

I am still thinking Red Kite , as only yesterday we had one right over the house.I had to zoom in as much as possible as it was a fair way off.Just looked at the slow motion film of Red Kites WOW !!!

Sending you a photo of a Buzzard for your blog that my brother sent earlier so it can be compared with Jane's photo which she thought was a Red Kite. Sorry to disappoint you Jane but your photo is of a Buzzard , 3 different wardens at the Nature Reserve say that your photo is of a Buzzard.

Thanks Shaun for asking the help from your Brother to identify my Bird.Buzzard it is then :-D..I haven't seen it since.
It is fairly unusual for us to have Buzzards over us.They tend to always be a little further off.But it is the Red Kites we see more of.
I was just thinking that I don't seem to have as many Robins about as I usually do .I think there are just 2.

Probably a pair then Jane? We have just the one. and strangely, today we had just one bluetit, they usually go in pairs. :-S

Perhaps they had a masectomy :-D
