Only a couple of collared doves and several starlings today. The starlings have finished yesterday's fat cakes already - I don't think the bluetits got a look in. OH says the birds eat better than he does so I think I'll do him fat cake and chips for his tea :-D

We saw a lot of red kites on the way back from M Keynes, nothing unusual in that ecept we normally see them around Oxford towards Bicester and these were towards Gloucestershire near Burford much further this way.

Ann I haven't seen any here for about a week now. There are so many Crows though :-S :-S.Well I think Crows..
The Robins are very vocal especially early evenings. Not just from our garden but all around the various neighbours too.It is quite a racket .

Maryanna Report 11 Nov 2014 11:58

There was a right rumpus just now, the Jackdaws are getting cocky and have obviously decided that as there are now so many of them next doors roof is not big enough.

For some reason, known only to themselves, they seem to have decided that the Magpies favourite roof perch, across the road would make a good annex.

They flew over one by one until there was six or seven of them, only about four Magpies at that time. The Magpies were NOT going to have that and needless to say feathers were flying.

At the moment nobody is on the roof opposite, the Magpies are shouting from the Thugs tree which has sent the Sparrows into a tizz and the Jackdaws are back on next doors chimney laughing at them all.

All that in the pouring rain.

At least you have some activity MaryAnna, despite the fact that most of the seed and bits of fat I put out have disappeared, I have not seen a single bird here today. Maybe our birds are wimps and don't like the rain :-D

Jane Report 12 Nov 2014 20:57

LOL Maryanna. It sounds all go at yours with all the thugs and chavs.I have a different clientele here :-D :-D.Mind you they still scrap a lot on the feeder. The food is disappearing at the rate of knots .

Is it Pheasant Shooting time? I heard lots of gunshots this morning.Plus there seem to be a lot of Pheasant noises around us.Maybe they have left the fields and come here to go into hiding :-D
I have filled the Window feeder 3 times today :-S :-S...I have a feeling that the Squirrel might be about :-|

AnninGlos Report 15 Nov 2014 17:19

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 19 Nov 2014 20:05

I've been in Wales for a few days so filled the bird feeders up before I went. I was surprised when I got back to find they were still almost full so there can't have been many birds around.

The feeders have gone down a bit today but it only seems to be starlings on them.
Where are the birds this year? :-(

Jane

Jane Report 20 Nov 2014 22:03

They are all at mine Vera.I am now adding breadcrumbs to the fat sticks and sunflower seeds ,just to see if I can slow down the feeding as it is costing me a bomb. The aren't so keen on the bread. So sometimes just have a shuffty and grab a stick and go.Not just staying on the feeder and eating all they can in one go.They are a very greedy lot :-S

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Nov 2014 09:20

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 21 Nov 2014 12:37

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Nov 2014 13:02

Ooh Vera not my favourite place. Hope you are ok. All I have to report is two collard doves who seem to take up residence on the seed feeders most days, rain or shine. :-D

Graham

Graham Report 21 Nov 2014 15:19

I've had a couple of swans in my garden. I can't see them eating from the feeders though. :-D
