Ahh ! Vera.You must have a name for your Frog.I think Ann's idea of a rock or big stone in the water is a good idea .We never get Frogs in our garden .
I did watch David Attenborough's Frog programme and I think they are lovely creatures :-D

Kandj,your birds will be back I'm sure.I wonder if someone near you is putting a lot of food out for them.I would be so disappointed if I made a fat cake and had no takers .In fact I would be pretty miffed lol.

I was watching a Heron this morning and it is amazing how far they fly by just gliding
and not flapping wings.

Still waiting patiently for the birds to notice the fat birdcake.

Vera, I wouldn't like the frog..... it would frighten the life out of me!

I went out to check that I had locked the garage door and a dried leaf went near my feet and I shrieked and jumped a mile as I thought that it was a mouse. I have put one of those electric plug-in mice deterrents in the garage today as the farmer is harvesting and I don't want any little visitors nesting here..... thank you very much.

Ooh Vers we have a mouse in the apartment here, a little black one, little devil is refusing to be caught so far. We have resisted setting a trap as I hate killing them but we may have to rethink. Bet you wouldn't sleep at night knowing it was somewhere in the room. :-D :-D

Yes Kandj all the harvesting will be dispersing all the little darlings and they will be running for their lives.Taking shelter in our gardens,and garages etc lol
We have had a big clear out in the garage as we have had a skip and we found several areas where there were lots of little piles of grain.I think 'storage' :-S.So unfortunately we have resorted once more to the poison.I hate having to kill them ,but as we have an integral garage I just can't risk them getting through into the kitchen .
I won't mention the time when we had a big infestation as that would really give you the shivers lol
Ann is it just the one little Black Mouse ? I bet there are more :-D :-S

I hope the electronic mouse repellent works too Jane. I am also continuing to use the peppermint oil which is supposed to deter the mice and I also read that moth balls are something else that will keep mice away...... so our garage has a mixture of smells lol.

Ann, I would be moving out if I was sharing with a black mouse.... I agree with Jane, if there is one mouse..... there is usually others hiding around too.... keep them over there please!!

Clever mouse, sprang the trap and git away with the cheese :-D and we sleep in the room where the mouse is too! And this evening we did see a grey mouse, so yep, there are two of the little b*****s :-(

I've just spent ages typing a post, pressed submit and it disappeared into the ether, never to be seen again. So this is attempt number 2.

A good day for birds here. Long tailed tits, blue tits and a couple of great tits have been on and off the feeders all morning. We also saw a magpie fly across and land in a tree next door and that is the first one I've seen near the garden since we moved here almost a year ago. They are not my favourite birds as they are such scavengers so I hope there aren't too many around.

Ann, I laughed at your mouse. They are quite clever aren't they? I quite like mice though NOT in the house. I hope the two you have seen are the same sex or you might wake up one morning to a lot more.

Kandj, you would really have the heebie-jeebies if you visited my granddaughter. She has degus as pets. I think you would hate them. If you haven't come across them before their other name is brush-tailed rats, though they are not related to rats at all really. They are very sociable little animals and should never live alone. The better pet shops insist that customers buy at least two, though I think some of the less responsible ones let them go singly. Granddaughter currently has three, having just lost one.

We are sorting out some designs for the garden to try and give it a bit of shape and make it look a bit bigger and OH has suggested a position for the water trough that we are apparently going to put in for Henry the Frog. OH tries to pretend he is macho man but he's just an old softie really. I have found a couple of very large pebbles which are now in the bowl we currently have out for Henry but we haven't seen him near the water bowl yet. Ungrateful creature! If his manners don't improve we'll be having frogs' legs for dinner.

I have a phobia about mice which goes back to my schooldays, and that is very many years ago now!! I Googled the bush tail rat Vera but as several photographs filled the screen, I quickly came out with the shudders. It's not for me and I really couldn't sleep in a room like Ann knowing there was a mouse/mice around.

I am trying to tidy up the back garden border and there is thick Ivy covering parts of the ground....... I am doing this warily, as I would not be happy to have any little creatures appear and scare the heck out of me.

Well, it does seem as if our birds are having a holiday away from our feeder as the fat birdcake remains untouched. Hey ho,it could be different tomorrow/next week.

Kandj, just do what I do and make a lot of noise when clearing somewhere .I clap my hands and bash a bin or something metal lol.I do this when I go to the compost bins down the bottom of the garden,just in case there are any rodents .
I haven't seen what the birds have been up to today as I have been to my friends Mums funeral and the after get together.It was quite a party and I have had too much Champagne and wine :-SI left home at 10am and got home at 5pm !

Vera ,I love those Degus :-D.If I lived on my own I think my house would be full of different animals........BUT OH says NO :-|

Well we keep setting the trap and oh nearly takes his finger off when it springs then we come in and the little devil has had the cheese and got away yet again. It will have eaten a pound if cheese by the time we go home. :-D

Try chocolate or peanut butter Ann to trap your black or grey mouse!

Sorry you were attending a funeral yesterday Jane, it sounds like your friend's Mum had a "good send off" and she will have appreciated your support. (Your friend I mean and not her Mum) Any headaches/hangovers/upset tummy, at all today?

Ongoing rain all today here in Yorkshire, very heavy at times too and so no visitors to the window feeder today. We are waiting patiently to see what tomorrow brings.

We have Bats tonight flitting here and there.Must be plenty of bugs in the air for them :-D

Well tonight we caught one. It was a grey one. But I am sure the one I saw was black. So we will have to set the trap again. I have to admit I felt really guilty I hate killing things just for being! :-(

So one down and hopefully just one to go then Ann.I didn't know there were black mice.Hopefully you will soon be mouse free :-D
It is so nice here today ,so it is lunch in the garden :-D.I wonder if it will last.

Oh doesn't think there are any more and we have seen no signs. Fingers crossed. Really hot here still and this evening we had a short heavy shower.

Ann my niece and her family have just come back from Adeje, how that has changed in the last 20 years.

All the time we were in Tenerife I never saw a mouse, we saw plenty of cockroaches though :-D

No cockroaches here in the 8 years we have been coming to the north but have previously seen many in the south. Much more rural where we are Lesley. El Durazno above Puerta de la Cruz, near the botanic gardens.

Adeje is much more built up than it used to be.

I think i would prefer Mice to Cockroaches :-D
We have had Swallows on the aerial today.Some looked quite small and seemed to be fed by larger ones that flew back and forth :-D
The Owls during the night are very vocal .They sound very close to the house.Not hooting but screeching :-S
