Kandj don’t stay too quiet on your own, remember we are here to chat. This is probably the hardest time waiting until the funeral. It must have been a relief to see that the pain has gone from your loved hubby’s face and to know there is no more pain for him. Take care Kandj you are still in our thoughts <3

Just been watching a heron on the roof of one of the houses opposite.

I am laughing at the squabbling starlings who are getting blow around by the wind :-D :-D. Why do the silly beggers squabble more than they feed :-S :-S :-S. The 6 long tailed tits are busy out here at the feeders they are so sweet the way they twitter to each other.

The LTT don't linger long do they? Yes the starlings are so squabbly they must use more energy than they do eating. :-D

I agree with you about the starlings squabbling. They make such a racket as well.

Our blackbird stopped sitting in the bird bath but still spent a lot of time standing on the rim and chasing away any other bird that wanted a drink. Then he met his match in a robin who wouldn’t give way to him and eventually the blackbird flew off and the robin got his drink.

Not many birds around for the last couple of days. We had a lot of rain for two days and today is dry but very windy.

Kandj, just keep taking things a day at a time. Keeping you in my thoughts <3 <3

Very few birds around today.

There are a couple of collared doves in a neighbour's tree and a troop of seagulls were 'tap-dancing' on the front grass of several houses in the street earlier.

All the smaller birds must be sheltering from the very blustery winds blowing through the Channel.

Kandj says Hello to everyone. She is feeling very weary and says she isn't able to concentrate on reading posts at the moment. Her family have gone for the moment so she is on her own .She has plenty of meals in her freezer as her SIL came and did a load of cooking for her. So she is well stocked up for now.

We have had Buzzards hovering overhead today. Also I have seen some Red Kite with Crows trying to chase them off. I think we have Rabbits around again as Thomas is hunting and has brought home a couple
:-| :-|. I think he might have a full tummy now and it is not his cat food :-S

Thinking of Kandj this ‘limbo’ time is very hard. It seemed such a long time until the funeral. Good that she has plenty of food though, as long as she eats it.

Well the blackbird came for his mealy worms. then had a bath on the water feature and because there is a little fountain in the centre which was sort of working as it is solar and the sun has been shining, he had a shower, flew off to the apple tree to dry off then came back for a few more mealy worms before flying off. He does come now when we shake the packet, not until we go back indoors, he waits but is almost immediately there. Very intelligent when it comes to food aren't they?

Ann ,we have the biggest Blackbirds I have ever seen. Two males and a female.. They take over the window feeder and are real bullies to the other birds.. The males do a lot of stamping of feet on the feeder. Whether that is to get balance or warn others off I am not sure. But they are quite intimidating :-S

I can’t make up my mind if we have one or two blackbirds visiting the mealie worm table. We think it is one making several visits but who knows, love the way he always has a drink a bath and a shower after eating :-D he is very black and not very big I think he is a young bird

I am still here but feeling drained and exhausted, and my brain doesn't seem to want to work either. Helen came back yesterday, and together with Fr Paul we have put together a Celebration of Life service for her Dad. Quite a few tears and deep breathing but we were guided and helped during the time he was here with us.
She went back to Durham and they have deep thick snow there now, but the family will all come again this weekend. Still 10 days yet before the funeral day with the backlog of Christmas/New Year period to contend with. Very many grateful thanks for everything xx

We had a new visitor to the bird feeder today. We think its a common Redpoll but it might be a lesser Redpoll. Never seen it before.
OH did manage to get photos though :-D :-D :-D

I have not heard of a Redpoll . I must have a google to see what it is.
After all the rain today the Woodpecker came visiting and was having a feast on the lawn .Plus all the big Male Blackbirds. It looked like a feeding frenzy at one point.

Jane I looked in my bird book and looking at it quickly it is sort of sparrow like with a pinky red head and the male has red under its ‘chin’ the beak is trisngular and pointed.

I was reading about the tree removal in your garden did that come down in the recent storm?

We watched. bBC2 programme on Dartmoor this evening, there was a lot about long tailed tits, really interesting.

Getting back to the long tailed tits which we were able to see as they had a tracker on one of them. when they roost they always (in their group) return to exactly the same branch in the same shrub (often holly I think) every night. Then they all huddle in a line on that branch with the senior birds landing and squashing themselves into the middle to keep warm. When they nest, if they lose the babies through a predator, the adults then go and help feed at another nest in the group. the filming was lovely and we saw them up really close. One pair had 6/7 chicks. all the chicks fledge at the same time. :-) :-)

Jane - I hadn't heard of it either but thought at first it was a gold crest or firecrest but the beak was a different colour so we concluded that it must be a red poll.

That programme was very interesting wasn't it Ann. I love the long tailed tits :-D

Ann,that is so interesting about the Long TTs. I did know that they all slept in a line on the same branch . Poor little ones on the end.Especially in this weather :-( )

I wish they would visit here more often as I think they are such lovely little birds.
Mind you they wouldnt get a look in on the window feeder at the moment with the Bully Blackbirds and all the other squabbling ones.I am filling the feeder at least twice a day .There are just so many.
They will have to hungry though for a few days from tomorrow as there will be no-one here to fill the feeder.
