Your next project sounds promising. Have you got a picture/photo of a flower that you can blow up on the computer to use as a template for your central flower? One idea in a magazine or book I have seen recently is a central photo in a circle with all the other photos cut into circles round the large circle. Same sort of idea. Oops, should have read your post more carefully I see you got there before me! How about each small photo in the centre of a smaller flower?

I use chipboard shapes but have not yet cut my own.

Like Ann I have previously used bought chipboard shapes but now I have the die cutting machine and the newly purchased deep cut blades I'm going to have a go at cutting my own chipboard shapes.

One of the Cricut cartridges I ordered from America was called Home Accents and there are some very nice motifs that can be used as frames which would look great cut out of chipboard and then painted, inked or covered with paper.

I'm just in the process of doing a page of my grandson and oldest son to put into a deep box frame to give to my oldest as part of his birthday pressie at the weekend - chocolate brown background so may cut some of the frames from chipboard and cover them with creamy/beige papers to frame the photos.

I've managed to finish the patchwork blocks and just have two pairs of Speedo swimming trunks to convert to thongs - don't ask!!!! My second oldest asked me to do it for him and his mate yesterday before they go the Spain on Thursday. I shudder to think what their wives/girlfriends are going to say!!!! They've got some sort of prank in mind....

Anyway, just got to do that quick job and then I can get back to scrapbooking - yayyyy!!

I did laugh at Daff's misadventures with the glue - I have the same problem with sticky dots - they get EVERYWHERE but on the page. I've just bought a glue pen to eliminate the need for sticky dots so hopefully in the future my stash of papers won't be glued together with sticky dots that have escaped.

WoW Daff, what a girl...its very good . we will have to buck our ideas up ladies we will soon be shown up.... I love it, lovely idea, thankyou or sending it....I have done some more older ones so will send you a couple..What ashame we are not nearer one another we could have scrapbook club.....

Ah! glue dots. When i first started doing this I always used glue dots and they were fine, the dots were on the cardboard roll and not on the paper strip, since they changed them and made it the other way round I just can't get on with them, pull the glue dot off and it misses the target, immediately shrivels up and attaches itself to your fingers or whatever it lands on!!!! Given up with them now Unless I absolutely have to use them.

*blushes and curtsies to Jean!* thank you.... some of the glue was still wet, lol It sort of has a look of those children's first wooden jigsaws, I thought......

Ninja Lady.... thongs? Well... Speedo's have even been banned in some places as too risque, haven't they? lolol I am so pleased others get in a pickle with glue and stuff.

I haven't made it to that scrapping wotsit yet... the site isn't open at the moment, so no way of linking and contacting them. I am one of those people who need to watch someone and then copy.... a couple of times, with questions, and stuff...... reading destructions, or even looking on a video very often means gobbledygook to me!

Well... suppose I had better go and find some stuff to go with the fish for dinner....... at least if I feed R well, he won't ask too many questions about how many pennies went flying out of the account today, lol!

Not been around much lately and sadly not because I've been scrapping. But I did manage a bumper card making session at the weekend only because I packed a bag of supplies and took myself off to my OH's playpen and set up in the office there. We got to spend some time together (kind of) and I made over a dozen simple cards in an afternoon (i'm hoping to sell a few more at an upcoming event).

Today has been spent decluttering and i am pleased because I even tackled part of my craft room, not the bad corner though - the one behind me while I type where everything I've used but not got around to pointing away ends up. I need to do it because the pile is blocking the door of the built in wardrobe and I need to get in there LOL

Sarah, good to see you on here anyway and at least you got some cards made. I had a sort of half tidy of part of my craft room/office this weekend, the bit in front of me is fine but the books shelves around are pretty bad - want be tidy until I get a few more books read Lol!!!

Morning all..... Sarah, Hi. Ann isn't REALLY tidying you know.... she is looking for hiding places for her glues to keep them away from me when we meet up next, lolol ;¬))

Well.... pouring with rain here... first page neatly tucked into it's album... and all stuff for next page is gathered around me..... but first, I have to go out... to the carpet places to buy some gripper rods for the rugs. I have to get the lounge looking reasonable before I start, to give me a clear conscience, lol

Is there some spray or something that will fix printer ink so it doesn't run? I looked at laser printers, but can't afford the one I wanted so got the Kodak esp 5 one... the photos on that are very clear... I also have one of those scanners that will scan slides and negatives.

Oh... and the carpet places are close to the Range, in Cardiff, lolol!! ;¬))

Daff, what do you mean by stopping printer ink running? Do you mean on photos? I don't have a problem with mine at all. Have you perhaps got the setting on high gloss paper when you are using non gloss? Or are you using cheap printer paper. I usually try to use Kodak, although not sure if it is still being produced now. will have to look round. I did try some very cheap paper and the ink wouldn't dry on that.

No, it's not that.... it is with normal printing... once you glue, the inks run, as they do if you spill a drop of any other liquid on them.....lol... I remember years ago, there used to be a fixative for things like pen and ink and charcoal drawings... R used to use it when I first met him, he is quite a gifted artist, mainly wildlife, although he hasn't done any for years.... I just wondered if it was still available... I'll have to go to the Range, now, won't I?? lol

I use Kodak photo paper or the HP high quality one.... I found the others were nowhere near as sharp and clear, or as long lasting, so don't work out cheaper in the long run!

Well... really must get ready to go shopping... I am still in my jimjams, lol.... but I have a load in the tumble dryer, a load in the washer, and I have emptied and re-filled the dishwasher... what is it about that job that I really, really hate?? I have also ironed half a dozen shirts for R... that really gets me brownie points, does that, lol

Final question for the moment.... X-cutters or the Fiskars ones? with the templates... which is the better? If it is the Fiskars, I will buy the frame to stop them slipping and save me the risk of bleeding to death... or at least bleeding all over my creations!

Daff I'd be tempted to just use a drier glue but then I am a collector of glues when I spot a new one I have to try it and then they usually get consigned to the shelf. Like a lot of other things!

Ah you mean when you print your journalling then stick it with glue? I don't use wet glue for that I use double sided tape - always!

Do you mean for cutting out things like frames, ovals, circles?

My friend and I share a set of X cut frame cutting templates (different sized ovals, circles and squares) with the little cutter that rolls around the edge of the frames so no chance of cutting ourselves there. I haven't used any of the Fiskars stuff I'm afraid.

And I agree Ann, I very rarely use wet glue - double sided tape, Herma photo tabs or the dreaded tiny sticky dots are my adhesives of choice. Sometimes if I want to raise something up off the page I'll use the sticky fixer pads but, again, that's a dry adhesive.

Ninja Lady, is the machine called X-cut impress?I have just seen one with 3 die cuts and was wondering if it will be worth getting....

Evening all... yes, Ninja Lady, those are the ones... I saw them the other day.... they are more expensive than the Fiskars, but then I find the Fiskars a little awkward to use... it might be that my hands are playing up, as well, .. but with the Fiskars.

I have bought more glue today....... lol... Sallie, it seems I shall be following in your footsteps!!

The actual photos, I used pritt stick for... that seems to have worked ok, and today I bought a glue specifically for fabrics, rather than crafts... just in case I use felt again!

Ann... I shall persevere with the double sided tape!!

Daff, although I have only been scrapbooking for just over a year, I learned
on the very first page I did, not to use wet glue.The whole page was a disaster. Now I only use double-sided tape to stick down photos, paper and journalling. I've got the X cutters and template frames, I find them OK to use. If I can use them, I'm sure you will be able to. I'm always a bit wary trying out something new, but was fine with the X cut.

Daff, if you have used pritt stick on the page you have completed check it after a couple of days. I have found it has a tendancy to 'dry out' and things come unstuck which is a bit of a problem with card making in particular.

As an aside - i made five cards this afternoon so didn't get any scrapping done.

Will do, Ann...... I hve found those tweezers again, so maybe the double sided tape will work better, and not wrap itself around me, lol
