lol Jude.Don't think I can cock my leg high enough to get over the fence..I did have a peer over though after it had flown off ,but couldn't see anything.I will have my eyes peeled now though knowing it is about. My camera is right beside me,but I think it just a fluke that I saw it so close today.I just wish someone else could have seen it with me.

Fantastic Jane, what a lucky sighting.

Now I've started seeing my little grey wagtail again I was surprised to see it yesterday morning right outside my bedroom window on the bit of the roof that slopes away just under the window. Having been disturbed I was amazed that it stayed there for a little while before it decided to take off. I was a bit careful how I opened the curtains this morning. I peeked through the gap first before I opened them, but nothing today.

Thanks for your good wishes, I'm gradually getting better. In fact yesterday was the first day I've been out for an hour or so for days. Although a couple of times when I was feeling a bit brighter and suffering cabin fever I popped out to the greenhouse for a little play. Took a few pelargonium cuttings and sowed some sweet peas as I've heard autumn sown ones are better than spring sown ones. So we'll see.

Have sent a photo of the owl Jude.It is a Barn Owl not a Tawny. It has been around most of the day.I don't know if it missing some bit of the wing on it's right side.Looking at the photos I took one side looks longer than the other.Maybe it can't fly very far.I will see if it is about tomorrow and try and get another look.

Well the owl is still there .OH was speaking to a chap from the stables down the lane and he wonders if it has been released back into the wild.
I contacted a local Bird Sanctuary yesterday just to see if they may have had a call from anyone who may have lost a Barn Owl.But they haven't got back to me.

~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 7 Nov 2010 19:10

Hello Jane....if it has been released it may well have been ringed/chipped, but then l spose it depends on who released it. l do hope you hear from the charity you rang.

Aw yes we enjoyed ourselves alright:o) lol

I'm thinking my dickie birds are camera shy!
I've got coaltits, blueys and greats flitting to and fro of the feeders outside my window. I wait until they are on a 'fro' to pick up my camera. I sit poised and focussed......waiting.....after a while my arms ache so I put the camera down. Hey presto! it's busy out there again!

Jude ,The Owl seems to have disappeared .I haven't seen it now since Sunday.I was very surprised that I never had a call back from the Bird Sanctuary.I just hope it is alright.I will still keep my eyes open for it when I take Chester for his walks. But I think it has gone.I am so glad that I got the photos of it.I will probably never see one like that again.

Von Report 13 Nov 2010 11:07

Hi
I was beginning to get a bit despondant as there didn't seem to be many birds using my feeders.
However yesterday there were two jackdaws eating the fatballs and this morning they were back together with starlings, other small birds and would you believe parakeets.
The parakeets are often about but this is the first they have eaten at the feeders.

As to my plants despite the frost earlier in the week I still have a nicotiana in bloom together with antirhinums. These plants have seeded themselves in my patio so have chosen really protected sites.
Take care
Yvonne
