Just in case others like me thought that Age UK were actually donating coats to the elderly I googled it and this is part of what I read.

Donate a coat this winter

Can you spare a coat to help us raise vital funds to keep vulnerable older people warm and well this winter?

Back for the second year, our Donate a Coat initiative wants you to spread the warmth by donating old winter coats to an Age UK shop to be sold on and loved again – with all the profits going to Age UK’s vital winter warmth projects.

I am disappointed as I thought they were giving the coats to needy old people but theya re just selling them so you might as well take them to any charity shop surely?

Ann,I must admit I assumed it was meant that the coats actually went to people who needed them.I have donated 4,one mens (brand new). But if the proceeds go to their Winter warmth projects then I don't mind.I was actually going to take the good one to a homeless shelter but don't think we have one.As long as it does good for someone and made me clear out a few things that have just been hanging in a cupboard ,that's great.
I do think the appeal was a bit misleading though ,now you have pointed it out.

Still feeding the birds. Mainly the sunflower hearts, but peanuts, bread and mixed seed too.

Warmer over Christmas so they will all have more chance than the last couple of years, with early snow.

Have a good Christmas everyone

Linda xxx <3 <3 <3 :-) :-) :-)

Jane, yes of course it will still do some good, as does every trip to a charity shop, and it made you shift yourself to have a clear out so is good for you too (more space for new clothes!!!) But, yes, misleading and a bit naughty, a sort of one over on other charity shops.

Linda, still feeding the birds here too although it is noticeable that the last couple of days there have not been so many as it has not been so cold.

Shaun, thank you that is lovely and a sentiment I would wish for everyone on here too.

ANN, I have sent some photos for your blog.

JANE, sorry but I missed your post asking where I'm from.
I'm almost in Red Kite Country , Rhayader. Living on the Welsh Marches one foot in Wales and the other in England. They call it ``Powys`` but it will all ways be ``RADNORSHIRE`` to me, I don't like change just for the sake of it.
You all take care.
