Since joining GC and becoming addicted to the message boards, I have begun to suffer with headaches and sore eyes. My husband says it's no wonder, staring at a bright green screen all the time!! I think he may be right - I love GC but hate the green background with red lettering. Is anyone else struggling with the colours? Lynne Sale CHS

While GC are considering this could they also please do something about the column on the left. The darker shading makes the titles almost invisible. By the way I don't know what I am doing wrong, but my writing is blue not red!! Jim

Jim Well, aren't you the lucky one - LOL!! My messages are actually black but the titles of messages etc. are red against the green background. Lynne

Lynne - I have probs as well, the lettering on the messages is so SMALL, praps if it's not just me I can cancel the appt. for the optitians next week!! Sue.

Sue I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles. Although I think I will have to visit the opticians as I have special glasses for the VDU and maybe I need to get them changed. Lynne

I'm also going to make an appointment with an optician, its definitely affecting my eyes. I had this same problem about 10 years ago when I was installing some new programmes. June, Preston.Lan.

Thanks everyone, I thought it was down to the fact that since I joined this site in March my eyes were sore from just using the computer all the time. Maybe its the colour or maybe I need glasses. I would go and have my eyes checked tomorrow but its a bit pricey these days, have to wait till I get paid! Allie,SAL

God forbid that I should teach my grandmother to suck eggs, as I am a complete learner when it comes to computers....but I have found that if I go to the View option at the top of the computer screen, click, select text size and choose the largest option, everything on screen gets big enough to see! Yep Deirdre..I did just that...got mine on largest text size. Must admit the green screen is rather billious! Beryl Darlington DUR

Deirdre I agree with you about the size of text, I have set mine to the largest but it's the colour I'm having problems with (I think!!). Lynne

Hi Lynne (same name as my sister)! I know you have probs with the colour, but a couple of the others also mentioned text size (tho' I don't think the message size changes even with the setting on largest)! The lefthand coloumn and headings are more legible though. Dierdre X

And I read somewhere that green is supposed to be relaxing!!! Sue.

Like you Lynne I have red names, black type and green background. I only started viewing the message board on Saturday, and had a headache with so many messages to read (couldn't resist them!). I don't find green relaxing at all-blinding more like!

I believe it is blue that is supposed to be relaxing. Green is for youth, and growth. Even this shade of green isn't very pleasant. I shall put up with it though, the messages are fun.

Hello everyone, I have noticed that I need to wear my specs more since I started doing my family tree. Thought that it was with spending too long on the computer, but could it be the green??!!

Well it looks like I am not the only one suffering headaches with the colour so I think I will email GC and ask if they can consider changing it. Thanks everyone for your support. Lynne Sale

I think the colours cause problems depending on the resolution of your PC as on mine they seem fine. However, I will have a play with changing the colours on the boards first to see how they look.

Stephen Could you give us a little warning before you start playing with the colours, please? We may all think that we have gone off the rails when we start seeing different coloured screens. Thanks Vera, Manchester LAN
