I'm with Bob - if it aint broke dont fix it! No-one I know calls it Genes Reunited. There are pleanty of problems with this site that need addressing before they fiddle with the name. I'm sending them an e.mail. It's the members that make this site and sooner or later they won't have any ! By the way there is a new site, Rootschat which is free! It's struggling a bit at the moment but new people are joining every day. It could be every bit as good as this and not cost you a penny ! BE WARNED GC don't upset your PAYING members. Sue, a bit miffed in Sussex.

Not alot changes over the years, interesting to see the same sort of replies to the ones about the re-vamp.

My renewal notice in April came from Genes Reunited!!

Wasn't this what it was called originally and there was a huge outcry when it became Genes Connected????

I have always known & referred to this site as Genesreunited ...................... no change for me :))

Just for the benefit of newer members who may be confused by this. This is an old thread nudged up for interest. When Genes started they were called Genes connected and we all hated the name change.

I have just read through it and PMSL.. FGS all this for a name change and people saying it was a hoax and even thought the admin team bit was a hoax..

Just goes to show the next time I read ,back in the good old days when it was all fun fun fun on here and i shall just think of this thread and think same old suspicions (sp) different year ...must give a flicker of hope to the poor newbys ...pmsl......

I think I must be living on a different planet....This site has always been called genesreunited...that is the address I use and people on this site always refere to it as GR......Have I been asleep for 100 years ????????

nope it was once long ago called Genes connected, but the powers decided to change it. The orginal start date of this thread is 2004, an old thread brought back to show how they're still changing things and we're still complaining about the changes!!!!

We always called it that anyway. Guess that means we've got our own way for once. Ooh lets make the most of it :-)

thats just the point we didn't call it that until after the change. we didn't get our own at all, loads of people wanted to keep as it was Genes connected, but as usual we the paying customer was ignored!!!

I agree Shelli, it was GenesConnected when I joined and everyone moaned at the change of name. It was done to make it the same sort of brand as FriendsReunited. You can reunite friends, but I don't think I can be reunited with my genes from 100 years ago. Connected was a much better name, but it was all done for advertising purposes I'm sure.

I personal prefer GC to GR, but thats just my opinion!!!
BUt tbh it doens't really matter what they call it does it?


I only added as people were assuming this was a new thread and the name change was happening now, not 3 yrs ago.
