Ooh, what a lot of messages to read when you miss visiting the site for a day or two. Nice to hear all your news. I enjoyed myself at the party yesterday - I drank a complete bottle of cream sherry. I know I had it all as I was the only one drinking it, and my neighbour likes dry sherry and she finished her bottle too. All the others were drinking red and white wine. Anyway, no problems, I wasn't drunk, can take it. I was tired when I arrived home and went to bed early. Well, today I finally managed to put all the invitations in with the last Xmas cards. I had to keep checking to see I'd not forgotten anybody. It's so easily done. I had a Xmas card today from a friend and she said "thank you for your beautiful card". I thought, well your card is here on the table, what are you talking about. I must have posted hers forgetting I had to put an invitation in.She will now have another Xmas card. Better two than one! I made an oven dish, with broccoli, minced meat/onion, and mashed potatoe on top and then covered with cheese. This will be enough for two days as I have to go out tomorrow. One of my elderly neighbours upstairs asked me if I have time to help her with some knitting, so I've made arrangements to see her Wednesday. The trouble with going to her is that I can never get away. She is alone and really has no friends and little family. She really is very sweet though. I will only stay in the morning as Linda comes Wednesday afternoons at the moment and may stay for dinner. Can't wait to receive our new computer, will take some getting used to again I suppose. The delivery date is 8-10 days. Tonight we have the big Dictation on television, when all famous people, writers, etc. take this dictation down and see who gets the least faults in spelling and grammar. I always like to do it too, although I'd never ever win. It is a real challenge. People like newsreaders and politicians make an enormous amount of faults. Actually more often than not a Belgian man or woman wins. The Belgians are quite thorough in their language. Who asked if I knew Buitenhof? Yes I do know it. Must close for now. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Firstly, I have been thinking of Kathleen and her daughter off and on all day, I'm sure you all have too. Your daughter is in good hands Kathleen, make sure you take care of yourself. Love JUne xx |

Hi, I'm still here for now anyway, Brenda, I hope all went well at the hospital and that the tooth isn't giving you much trouble. I went into Chorley and saw some things that would make extra little presents, but I thought of you sticking to your budget and I decided I should too. Sylvia, You certainly enjoyed the party, a full bottle of sherry! I hope you were dancing afterwards. lol You dont sound as though you had a hangover either. Well done. I am signing off again in case I lose this message Love June xx |

Hi,here again, although I do have to struggle to get on. Jude, your daughter in law has a very interesting job, its good your son gets to go some of the time. Madoc wont want your son to leave if he gets all these walks. I bought Beckham's Christmas present today, its a ball that is like Father Christmas's head and it squeaks. We will probably be driven mad by him making it squeak. He loves things that squeak now but when he was a puppy, he hated squeaky things. Well I have managed another message now, I must get Nick to see if he can fix it. I'll go now see you all tomorrow. Love June xx |

Hi all, It's a bit late, but thought I'd add a few lines otherwise you might think I was the worse for wear! Today have been to the wholesalers, nearly 60 kilometres drive. Bought a baby turkey, two boxes of cream sherry, boxes of wine, Dutch genever, etc. etc. My poor knees are so painful now after walking around that store. I realised that I'd not seen any television yesterday so ran back the video tape of yesterday and today's programmes. I thought I'd watch the genealogical programme and taped Crime Watch instead. Another senior moment! Anyway I now feel good that all my invitations are away, as well as my Xmas cards. Tomorrow morning I've promised to visit the old lady upstairs and try and help her with her knitting problems. Linda my granddaughter will come tomorrow but am not sure whether she is staying for dinner or not. I mustn't forget I have physiotherapy on Thursday this week instead of Friday. I seem to be all muddled up with the days. The weather has been dull and grey again, when is it going to change I wonder! I've had a quick look at the Board and notice a lot of petty arguing going on again. Same old people! That's what I like about this thread, we all agree with each other, more or less. How is your daughter Kathleen? Sleep tight, God bless, Sylvia xxx |

hello everyone, tried to get on earlier but everything took so long for some reason and I did not have time to wait. I have had the scan now and have to see the consultant on 25 Jan to see what is causing me to have the dizzy spells. Had a very slow day at the library,no has time to read this time of the year ,so the renewals hotline ,where you can phone up and renew your books is busy or people are just bringing them back without getting new ones ,the main reason they say is they do not have time etc. Been trying to do some more wrapping but have had a couple of awkward boxes and I have given up for tonight or I will wastye more paper than i use. Jude your family are certainly getting about, what does dil do? sylvia ,I'd be more than a little merry with half that amount of sherry. June I am being a bit miserly and keep saying i am not getting the animals presants.Probably will thougth. Kathleen ,been thinking about you and your daughter, hope it went well. Have not done any searching for days ,will get back to it after the holidays. But wanted to print my tree off to show dad. Going to sign off now working again tomorrow, some one has gone onthe sick for a month so we are covering for them . take care .Brenda |

A quick message before I get Indira up for school. Haven'[t slept tonight at all though I did doze off a couple of times during the evening. I took Susan to hospital at midday, she had to go to X-Ray to have the wire put in. She said that was not too bad although after about an hour it started to be a bit painful. As she had missed lunch on the ward we went to the restaurant which was not bad at all. I went home to wait for Indira and then Chris took her to the hospital, I went at 6.30 to pick her up. Susan will go to theatre 10.30 - 11 oclock this morning and should be back on the ward about 4pm. Must go now as we have to go and get Indira's school uniform from her house. I will let you know later how things went. God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi all, Well, I had coffee with my elderly neighbour this morning, and as I thought didn't get back until almost 1 o'clock. Anyway I enjoyed sitting and talking to her - she is 82 and up until a short while ago still drove her car, but has epilepsy so mustn't drive any more. She fell off her ladder a while ago whilst dusting on top of a cupboard. She remembers very little of this. She was lying on the floor for one and a half days! How is your daughter Kathleen? I expect you are all relieved it's all over, now you can build for the future. Looking forward to hearing from Di over Ratty. Maybe she'll have Ratty pie for dinner at Xmas - ugh, what a thought! June, Brenda, Jude, I think my body is used to all the sherry by now. Anyway it's good for the bloodstream, so they say, and who am I to deny this! I did my ironing yesterday evening, and I think I'll get my sewing machine out tonight and finish off some odd jobs. My granddaughter 'phoned to say she couldn't come today as she was out of school late and has to learn for a test tomorrow, so will see her tomorrow. Has everybody finished shopping for Xmas yet? Love, Sylvia xxx |

Again just a short message - I hope I can get some sleep tonight, have been tired all day but wide awake once I tried going to bed. Susan's operation seems to have gone well, though it took longer than anticipated. Fortunately her daughter was able to visit this evening. She is off to France with the school tomorrow/today. They are visiting WW1 trenches at Ypres on a day trip, will be leaving at 5.30 this morning and will not return until late so she will not be able to visit again until Friday. She said "Mummy is ok but sounds like a frog because her throat hurts". Will know more after the consultant does his rounds tomorrow (or later today). Will catch up again tomorrow, I have read the messages but my brain has switched off so will not attempt to say any more just now. God bless Love Kathleen |

Hello everyone, It's been I long time since I popped in to say hello but you all seem to be chatting away as usual. I just went and did a bit more xmas shopping - ended up getting a number of vouchers for the family that don't live near. It's too hard to know what to buy when you don't see them regularly. The grandchildren have started their xmas holidays today. We are having very strange weather. It is supposed to be summer but it is very overcast, rainy but warm?? Hope you all have a lovely Xmas and Kathleen - hope your daughter comes through her op with no problems. Sylvia, I like a little cream sherry as well - maybe a wee glass or two but my face lights up like a lantern - even after one glass of wine. |

Hi everyone, We have another wet start to the day again, I am only doing another short message because I have been losing contact with the internet again. Kathleen, Thanks for keeping us updated on your daughter, I think its a good thing your granddaughter is away for a day, it will keep her mind off things. I hope the consultant's news is good, still thinking of you. Sylvia, Your neighbour was lucky to be found alive after one and a half days, just shows how strong the human body really is. I would keep taking the sherry too, you seem to thrive on it. George, Enjoy your holidays, its surprising how much havoc children can cause isn't it? Jude, I will try and take the photos this weekend and will then put them on the photos page. I'm glad you enjoyed your time with your nephew, Madoc certainly did. I think I had better close now before I lose connection again. Love June xx |

Just spent ages reading the posts, owow!! Don't they mount up when you miss a couple of days. Didn't get to post the last couple of days as I spent a lot of time wrapping presents etc. Managed to answe a few of the shorter threads but didn't feel i would do this one justice. And Mondayw e were out at the lovely carol evening at the golf club - about 80 or 90 there and a lot of singing and a lot of fun with each table representing one of the 12 days of Christmas and very competitive as to which table could make the loudest contribution when it was their turn. it was a lovely evening. I have to go shopping now but hope to get back to you later, this is to send the thread back up the board a bit!! Ann Glos |

Hi everyone, I'm back for a few moments, I have just been putting a new bulb in a fibro optic light and I feel quite exhausted now, why do they make things so complicated? Well the weather improved and I got some washing dry but now its raining again and blowing a gale. Brenda if you are going to be a Belisha beacon, I will be the other one, thats the effect that sherry has on me too. Di, you have more patience than me with Mr.Ratty, I would want him dead because they are supposed to be able to find their way back if you turn them loose. Hello Chris, nice to have you back again, so I guess there are going to be 3 Belisha beacons then if we all hit the sherry. lol Ann (Glos), Enjoy your shopping, I hope you dont spend too much. Yesterday, I got quite upset, there's a lady that lives near with a tiny Yorkshire terrier, she had just been playing with her on the green at the back of my house when another dog pounced on it and was tossing it like a rag doll. I was just going to see if I could help when another lady appeared, I thought she was the owner of the naughty dog, but she wasn't although she called to the owner to come and get it away. Fortuneately, the Vet's surgery is at the end of the Avenue so I would think the Yorkies owner would have gone straight there. I have been looking out for her today but haven't seen her. My next door neighbour has 2 Golden Retrievers and they walk them a lot so they are going to look out for the Yorkies mum to see how things are. The poor lady lost her husband last week, has cancer herself and now this, her constant companion, being attacked. I wish I knew where she lives so that I could see how her and her little dog are. There's one thing for sure, I'm not walking Beckham down there again. Doesn't darkness fall quickly, it was light when I started this message and now it is dark. I'm off to start dinner now, so see you tomorrow. Love June xx |

Yes, it's me again. Well somebody has to keep the thread going don't they? Yesterday I watched a neighbour putting up a Xmas decoration, and stood at the window trying to guess what he was going to make with that modern sort garden hose lighting. Well, absolutely nothing. There are bits and pieces trailing without any form at all. Strange people. My neighbour upstairs (my friend) tells me that from her flat it looks like a swastika! Linda, came today and when she'd finished cleaning came on this computer as she is still not connected. Keeps her a bit longer by me! What a cold biting wind there is today. This afternoon I had to go for physiotherapy and the wind and rain brought tears to my eyes. I was so glad to be back home again. Jude, how is Madoc? Have you bought him a Xmas present? Di, fancy, you almost caught Ratty. What would you have done if you could have touched him? Rats carry Rabies, so be careful. George, what are you studying for? That little girl in the store screaming for her balloon. It would have been easier to have given her another one. What tantrums! Kathleen, so glad about your daughter. Will she be home for Xmas? So your granddaughter is in Ypres. I found this an unforgettable place. Brenda, I'm used to the sherry, although sometimes my face lights up after the first one, then goes from red, to amber then green. Like the traffic lights. Nice to hear from you Chris. Were you born in NZ? Still didn't get my sewing machine out last evening. How funny it is, but sewing jobs always get put off in this house. Will say cheerio for now, till tomorrow, Love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Hi June, It is difficult with dogs - some just love to attack other dogs. My dog on the other hand doesn't think he's a dog and isn't interested in them - even other Weimaraners - if he's going for a run then that's what he is doing. He does love to fetch and swim too. Sylvia, I was born in Auckland NZ and so were my parents. Three of my grandparents came from England - London, Essex and Kent and my other grandparent was from Denmark. |
