I liked Dusty Springfield especially her 'In Memphis' album

PennyDainty Report 19 Feb 2005 00:36

Aww Dusty was brill...sad when she died

Pat

Pat Report 19 Feb 2005 00:39

I read the book her two friends wrote about her life, blimey she was a girl, the only thing i didn't like she really didn't look anything like that in real life complete opposite, so it reminds me of these men in drag, you may not understand that comment unless you know about her. A Reggae singer mate of mine recorded at Phillips in the late 1960's and recorded backing for Dusty when Madeline Bell was with Blue mink and hanging around with Dusty, my mate loved her, he thought she was brill, but he said a lot of blokes didn't really like her.

Yes she was a Lesbian wasn't she? or Bi? My aunty used to do the whole backcombing and black eyes thing in the 60's She really thought she looked like Dusty LOL Anyway yes Madeline Bell had a great voice too

Right here's an easy one for you Dusty Springfield sang the theme tune and a woman I share a name with was portrayed in the movie?

Pat

Pat Report 19 Feb 2005 00:48

LOL wasn't talking about her sexual orientation? but she was a lesbian not bi! now we are talking about it. Dusty was in a very abusive relationship for a longtime and her downfall was going to the States, she probably would have survived to an old age if she hadn't gone there, she was a very weak person which i was surprised about.

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 19 Feb 2005 00:49

Yeah that surprises me her being weak...not the impression you got!

Pat

Pat Report 19 Feb 2005 00:52

Is that all I get then Dusty sings and a person called Christine in the film? Yeah surprising that? yet Cilla Black is a strong woman, totally opposite to what impressions you get.

PennyDainty Report 19 Feb 2005 00:54

The film is about a very famous Christine who was a model/call girl from the 60's and her dealings with certain 'gentlemen'!

Pat
