The Caudwells from the mill came from Culland Farm close to crich and Fritchley, in the early 1800s, there is a wood there called Culland Wood.prior to that can be traced back to Aldwark nr Brassington a few hundred years

Hi again, sorry, just helping out on Records. Yes, I know Fritchley & Crich .... my Dad lives in Crich and we also have rellies in Fritchley (but don't ask me who! - Dad's Aunts I think ? ... haven't done his side of the FT yet !) My Grandad built the house my Dad lives in now, back in 1918 in time for his marriage to my Grandma ... ! how romantic ! When the family meet up at Dad's, we all go walking through Culland Wood ... its a ritual thingy ! but we all seem to enjoy it . Elaine :-)

Yes, your correct Jacksdale is in Nottinghamshire ... but only a 10 minute walk from where I live, so I cross the border to get to my Dentist ! Thanks for the info, I have actually visited the site several times, but I'm sure not everyone knows about it ! Elaine :-)

Hi Anne, I probably sounded rather vague in my sentiments over your loss, but I didn't like to presume it was your husband. You must be going through an awful time. I am thinking about you. Caz, Hey up me duck ! I was always told off for using 'native tongue' it probably shows in my wording ! Its a breath of fresh air to hear it here !! Sarah, I am gob smacked that you are here in Derbyshire ... don't know why, but I imagined you were from down south somewhere ! I don't know why ! Well, I'm off to the Dentist now ... to have some teggies taken out .... so if I'm a little muffled later on this afternoon, it'll be because of the Cotton Gauze !! Thank godness for the keyboard !! Speak later Elaine :-)

Thank you Elaine Harry was in the Intensive Therapy Unit for 12 days, they did everything possible for him, I visited whenever I wanted and spent 12- 20 hours a day with him. He had had very poor health over the last 23 years following and accident. Gill

Hi Anne, How very sad. I am feeling for you. I am usually at my PC 12 - 18 hrs a day ... or not far away. If you ever want to talk, I'm here for you. It sometimes helps to write how your feeling, just to say, I'm here if you ever want to talk. You can send message direct if it helps ... and I can send you my e.mail addy by return. Your not on your own Anne. Please don't ever feel that you are. My trip to the Dentist was a nightmare. It's over now and I'm still standing ...just ! I'm going to get coffee and a ciggy and enjoy the next hour or so, before my son breaks up from school for Easter ! Back shortly Elaine :-)

Elaine - you probably thought I was from the south 'cos that's where most of my research is! lol My rellies are mainly from Devon, Somerset and Wales....except for the McLeans who are Scottish :o) I do have an aunt in Wirksworth, but I'm still struggling to connect the dots on that one...I don't like to ask her too much about the family history 'cos it would stir up skeletons in the cupboard that she would be mortified to be asked about!!
