Gillie - unmarried personnel can now co-habit.

Kerry

Kerry Report 6 Apr 2005 23:05

Thank you Gillie, someone who see`s it from my point!! The RAF do not allow us to live together(apart from the 3days) Mike for your infomation, I have been in the RAF for 4 years! I have been to Iraq(twice) and seen things many of you will never see!!! I think 4 years loyal and dedicated service is good and everyone is entitled to 6months off. Your opinions don`t matter to me. I know what I`m entitled to and I have effectively served back the time and cost the training was

Kerry Report 6 Apr 2005 23:06

Well I`m sorry but no unmarried people here live together. If they do they have children and it is for the 3 days. They have brought in a new ruling in the Navy but Army and RAF have not introduced it yet!!

Kerry

Kerry Report 6 Apr 2005 23:08

Ruth, It is impossible for us to rent, we just simply couldn`t do it. We pay rent for the quarter(not loads) and we are saving for a house!!! I feel like I`m constantly on the defensive with this thread, wish I had bit my tongue

Kerry

Kerry Report 6 Apr 2005 23:09

I didn`t say it should make me more entitled to anything, for some reason you seem to be on the attack

How sad and confusing for the children that dad is being forced to stay away 4 nights a week.

Kerry I retired in 2000 so that is 5 years ago, my take home pay then was £1052 a month, I reckon with rises i would probably be taking home £1200 now and I was an EO (band D I think it is now) Flying Officer equivalent in Civil service terms of responsibility. Ann Glos

Bella, it is sad but there is not alot we can do at the moment. Kian sees Chris EVERY day. He comes to the house every day after work but can only stay overnight 3 nights

Hi Kerry, Have been following discussion with intrest and just want to add that it's hard having a regular job, never mind being in the forces (as my husband was). Good luck to you, and I know that not everything goes to plan but be happy with your family and don't rise to the OBVIOUS wind up merchants who try to goad you!

Margaret Report 6 Apr 2005 23:15

I was brought up in a forces family, we didnt see my dad for weeks and months on end as dad would be on exercise or fighting a war somewhere. This is the life for a forces family. Children get used to having mum around all the time and only seeing dad when he's home. Yes dad's miss out a lot, mine missed christmas's, birthdays ect, but he made up for it when he came home. I dont know what its like now, this was going on in the 60's and 70's. I cant imagine it being any different now thought.

Haribo Report 6 Apr 2005 23:16

Of COURSE Kerry should claim everything that she is entitled to, and so should everybody else. Its just a shame that sometimes having the title' Mrs' can be a financial disadvantage.

Kerry I think you are right to do as you do!! (Does that make sense???lol) When I was married I worked for the DHSS and when my husband and I separated, I found I would be better off by resigning and looking after my child whilst claiming Income Support..my money too was eaten by childcare. Guess who resigned and claimed benefit for 3 years until he started school??? Regards Bev X ps. Ann, you've gone and promoted yourself..band D is a HEO!!!lol...wish it would work for me:-)

Kerry

Kerry Report 6 Apr 2005 23:17

Thank you Stelly and Gillie. Also I`m paying for my own benefits through taxes! What about the people who don`t work at all and claim?? I`m better than that and I put something back into the country. Don`t know what some peoples problems are. I`m a young mum trying to raise my son the best way that we can! And if we get help along the way, so what??????????? Like it`s been said, it`s hard trying to be a family in a normal job but with Chris and I in forces it`s harder, I know we chose this situation but it`s still hard.

BIG HUGGS KERRY. Take a breather.

Kerry

Kerry Report 6 Apr 2005 23:23

Mike would you have the balls to join? Also I am leaving as the RAF want me to go BACK to Iraq for 4months and leave my son. Now if I went I`m sure you and others would be quick enough to jump on my back etc!!! I am a mother and I am not willing to leave my son for that amount of time, It`s bad enough that my fiance will be going back out there!! Please don`t pass judgement on something you clearly know nothing about
