Am I being dim or isn't a clique just where the majority decide that they wouldn't be accepted and therefore don't bother joining in, leaving a small minority to themselves?

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 6 May 2005 13:08

OK so why do people think there is a clique on this board when I have never seen anyone being excluded from any thread?

Speedy

Speedy Report 6 May 2005 13:10

Maybe it is because they don't add then think they are being excluded, to be noticed you have to speak up. Bev

I'm in a clique so far it's just me - which in normal society would make me a billy no mates but I like to think of myself as a click

PinkDiana Report 6 May 2005 13:16

Zoe... lurve it!! Art..... at least it's not just me they ignore!! LOL!! Bev.... you're right ya know. I think because some of us speak regularly others think we won't speak to them.... but I personally speak to everyone.... OK I miss the birthday threads as I can't answer all but I do try and respond positively especially if someone is new or feeling down.

I think this clique stuff is rubbish Have been trying to start my own clique ('The Bec Appreciation Society') for ages and it's not taken off! Maybe some people are a bit paranoid? becx (Chair and Founder of 'The Bec Appreciation Society')

Hi Susie, There were a couple of threads deleted early this morning that mentioned cliques. Gwynne

Speedy Report 6 May 2005 13:19

You can always tell when I'm not at work I'm on here all day, and I try to only add nice and posertive replies, we all were new at one time so it is nce to be able to welcome newbies, and the support I have received on here has been better than that of my own family some days, so thanx to one and all... Bev

PinkDiana Report 6 May 2005 13:20

And why do people do that deletion thing? If they have something to say why not give us mortals a chance to defend ourselves? Is it just me or are the people mentioning cliques and then deleting just trying to cause trouble?

This subject has arisen before and usually after people defend someone else about a comment made. Those who reply and defend then get accused of being in a clique or part of a gang. I read threads and reply if I feel like it with only a couple of authors avoided due to past comments. I have to admit to having thought at times in the past that there are cliques on the boards but when you think about it, many people have met and made friends so will communicate in 'groups'. As for a gang, yes, I think there is one and I am part of it. The GR gang. Membership open to all. Jacky :-)

PinkDiana Report 6 May 2005 13:35

Linda, i think everyone of us felt exactly the same when we first joined the boards and so I know what you mean and yes the same happened to me when I was 'The 2nd Wife' - the support I received was enormous and helped me through a really difficult period of my life!! :O)

Bec Report 6 May 2005 13:35

Jacky - I think you've hit the nail on the head there! I was called a do-gooder last night for defending a friend of mine who was unable to be on the boards last night. I'm not a do-gooder, I just think there's enough negative bulls*** in this world without people attacking others online! becx (Definitely NOT good ;-))

I will admit for the first couple of months I felt ignored sometimes..But looking at it now that was probably down to myself being new to this whole experience and now i am finding my feet with it its a case of what was said before you go to threads that are of interest to you and chat to people who you find pleasant.... may be people are coming in new jumping on the boards straight away not taking time to observe how it works ,expecting their response to be answered straight away and then getting a little hurt when it is not.... but with heinsight now they are not ignoring just probably engrossed some else hopping between threads...thats how I see it now!! Susie x
