Jessie aka Maddies mate Report 10 May 2006 21:15

Hi all Well I made it one full week But today has been awful, don't know if it is because I have been tired all day ( train journey into leeds, to work there just for the day and then train to come back to go out for MIL birthday and they all smoke) and I have had times at work when I could have easily had a cig and especially now I'm at home as all I want is a cig and then bed! But not going to give in - I hope it is because I'm tired as I would hate to think that the great feeling I have had until now is going to be replaced by feeling so low. And here I was all jumping up and down and shouting about how great I felt yesterday!! Well done Joanne for reaching the end of your first week. Don't feel too bad about having a bad day, just feel proud that you didn't give in! I have forgot my patch for 2 days running this week, didn't even think about a ciggie until I realised I hadn't got my patch on, but even after that it wasn't too bad. Dropping down to the 14mg ones in a few days so am hoping things will carry on as well as they have been Keep it up everyone Caz

85 Days now, well pleased with myself. Not missing them anymore, except in the evenings when on this computer. When I decided to give up, I used patches for some support, but due to a reaction from them, decided to go it alone, so far so good, but I do think I've become a bit more miserable than usual lol. Baz xx

Hi all Well now on the 8th day and I do feel better than yesterday, had the odd time when I could have thrown the towel in but got up from my desk at work and went a power walk around the block to take my mind off it ( beauty of been the boss I can just go and walk ) From my glove compartment Todays Date: 5/11/2006 My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 213 Amount Saved: £40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 3 Seconds: 56 I can't quiet believe how many cigs I would have smoked in a week but here it is in black and white - 213 - how disgusting is that?? James Report 12 May 2006 12:47

Joanne, an update on your savings, in a year £1825 should well cover your trip to Thailand. Your breathing is so much better you would not have manage a power walk before. Carol, sorry to hear about your health problem, but I think it might help not to smoke again giving you shortage of breath. All the best and to the other non smokers James

Jessie aka Maddies mate Report 13 May 2006 13:06

Hi all Now on my 10th day and feeling ok again - the 7th and 8th days were the worst, awful cravings or should I say habit that made me want a cig. Got up early, my myself a cuppa and snuggled back in bed with a book for an hour - would have never done that before, would have got up and had 3 cigs and two cuppa's before facing the day - did the housework, no huffing and puffing. Going to the pub this afternoon to watch the cup final, within walking distance of home so if I get the urge to smoke I can walk down home to escape. Hope everyone else is ok - Chuckle bunny thinking about you, positive thoughts, be strong xxx Joanne

Hi All Debs congrat on OH promotion and how well you are doing - now 6 weeks already and going strong arn't you glad you started Carol positive thoughts for the 22 nd, where do you get all those ideas from, for the threads you post Joanne, well done ,It is a shame there is always one who will try to tempt you, because they, do not have the will power, you have to Quit. If you feel strong enough, get them to give you a cigarette and slowly crush it in front of them and then challenge them to do the same!!! saying I can do it, can you?. Anyone out there who is thinking of quitting come and join us here, You will be made welcome James

Thank you everyone, Just waiting to see if we have to come back to the UK earlier than planned now, ooh that means I will be able to attend a meet. Passed the week 6 mark and feeling so much better than I did when I smoked, cant believe I have managed to do it so if I could then anyone with a bit of willpower can. Joanne next thing you will know you will be passing the 1 month mark, well done for not giving into temptation. Debs x

Thanks Carol and the same goes here, though think it might be a week or so before we really know whats happening. Not sure why but I keep thinking I fancy a cig, but I know if I did I would really let myself down and feel so heartbroken that I gave into it, so NO will not give into the urges, hubby wouldnt let me anyway.. He thinks I smell so much nicer now. Debs xx

I have reached 6 weeks today. I am so pleased with myself. I have started using the smaller patches. It didn't seem to burn as much when I put it on this morning. Had to drive OH car yesterday (he's given up as well) there was empty packets of 10 in there (he used to be a roll up man). Havent questioned him, just hoping that was earlier on when we first started. Stood next to one of the carpenters at work today who was smoking, must say I was just happy with a sniff!! Glad I don't smell like he did anymore though. Well done and good luck to everyone else Caz

Hi all Well in two days I have got to my second week - bloody great feeling. Hubby is so proud and one of his friend came to where I work today and said ' He is so proud of you and keeps telling us that he loves you for being so strong' Ah bless him, just need to motivate him to take the plunge now. Deb's if you do get back to England I would love to meet up with you and Carole and James, I really do feel that you three have been my support and motivators in my stop smoking campaign Brick wall's Glove Compartment Todays Date: 5/15/2006 My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 316 Amount Saved: £60 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 46 Seconds: 40 Joanne

Hi all nice to see you al keeping strong and resisting the temptations you are ALL going through I am hoping to go to Carol's Meet soon in Nottingham. This weekend I am going to one at Norwich on Saturday and Maidstone on Sunday. Debs is your OH in the Navy - think that is one of their ranks or Airforce. how are you finding the lower patches. Caz, looks like you will be turning detective on the empty cig packs - don't get too close to other smokers for a whiff - you might get arrested!!! Carol, well you did say you wanted to cut down on the chewing gum!!! Joanne, It does help when your OH gives out praise, It gives you the confidence. I suppose you will be trying to convert the rest of the office staff next. (puts on Mortar Board & Gown) 'I can do it, so can you' waving big stick!! All the best James

James your beggining to know me! have had to stop myself from saying ' if I can do it so can you, and do you realise how bad you smell' Oh dear I'm slowly becoming on of those orrible x-smokers that I always said I wouldn't. Would have loved to have come to the Nottingham meet, (Hubby's side from Little Blytham) it is only just down the M1 from me, but sorry to say or no I'm not sorry to say that I will be sunning myself in Turkey on the 8th August Joanne
