Following on from verses 26-28. And when she saw him,she was troubled at his saying and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary ; for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call His name JESUS. Luke ch.1 v 29-31 King James Bible. Gwyn |

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of his father David. And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel,How shall this be,seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her,The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee;therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And behold, thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age;and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke ch.1 v 32-37 King James Bible. Gwyn |

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda. And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost. Luke 1 ch. v 38-41 King James Bible. Gwyn |

Luke 2 v 8 - 14 That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly an angel appeared among them, and the landscape shone bright with the glory of the Lord. They were badly frightened but the angel reassured them. 'Don't be afraid!' he said. 'I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone! The Saviour - yes, the Messiah, the Lord - has been born tonight in Bethlehem! How will you recognise him? You will find a baby, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others -the armies of heaven - praising God: 'Glory to God in the highest heaven,' they sang, 'and peace on earth for all those pleasing him.' As Vonny is doing the Christmas story, I thought it might be nice if I do a christmas prayer. I hope this is alright Vonny. We give thanks to the Father this Christmas time for all His many blessings, For the gift of His Son to be our Saviour, For the love of Christ in taking our human nature, For His birth at Bethlehem, And for the great redemption He has brought to us and all mankind. And with the angelic host we too would cry, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill to all men. Luke 2 cont. V 15 - 20 When the great army of angels had returned again to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, 'Come on, let's go to Bethlehem! Let's see this wonderful thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about. They ran to the village and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and there was the baby, lying in the manger. The shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard their story expressed astonishment, but Mary quietly treasured these things in her heart and often thought about them. Then the shepherds went back again to their fields and flocks, praising God for the visit of the angels, and because they had seen the child, just as the angels had told them. |

First posting updated for today - Monday. Blessings for your new year :) Vonny Matthew Ch. 2 v 1 - 12 The coming of the wise men. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the King, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, 'Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship Him.' When Herod the King heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he enquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, 'In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it is written by the prophet: And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who shall govern my people Israel.' Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star appeared; and he sent them to Bethlehem saying, 'Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.' When they had heard the king they went their way; and lo, the star that they had seen in the East went before them, till it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. Entering the house where the baby and Mary his mother were, they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold, frankincense and myrrh. And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way. _______________________________________ |
