Afternoon all,and what a change today,it looked so promising in Newcastle O T this morning sunny warm ,and lovely to behold ,and on went the sun cream ,on the knees and other bits and pieces.but around three this pm ,the heavens opened and we are getting a right pasting ,grrrrrr ,one B B Q by the by yet again.
Good luck with the mint Kathleen ,but unless you keep adding feeder like baby bio ,mint very quickly becomes pot bound and i gave up on the stuff long ago, growing other herbs in buckets instead which is tons easier.
My Sage ,rosemary and oniongrass all grow mixed together in one corner of the plot ,and i am never short of herbs for my cooking.Forty odd years since i was in the Hammersmith region last ,so i need to get onto the net to view the bridge ,but Barnes i remember a little because it was the seat of my grandads family him being a Barnes after all ,and they were all close together and i played in the areas as a kid ,Twickingham ,Isleworth ,Brentford,Bushy park ,many happy memories of a time long ago he he,you have done it now lady .lol. i will dream of those lost days tonight ,and will feel a little sad when i wake up,but we kids were so lucky just after the war ,things still on ration but a freedom and childhood not found in these days with so much crime and weirdo's floating around.
Did a lovely curry with homemade pilau rice for dinner with chicken done in a Madras sauce again ,home made which means what ever i do for the tea is going to be drab.
Have to go and get on with it now anyway ,Hissy is beside my chair lookingat me with those eyes ,as if to say ,ooooye, never mind the computer ,i wants my tea purrrrr.Fred.

Hi all,
I've not been on much lately because I have just been too tired and fall asleep everywhere - even at the computer.
Apparently I need B1 injections. I am now having these 3 times a week and they are increasing my thyroid dosage. I have had thyroid tablets for 30 years now and always the same dosage, but it seems I need a higher dosage now. I have also that rotten cystitis returned. Yes, I really am poorly at the moment.
As soon as I feel well enough we are going to spend a few days in Rotterdam as this is where Johan comes from and he has nephews and nieces there as well as youngest sister. Johan's youngest sister and my niece came to visit us on Saturday last and although I was dead tired I did enjoy their company.
Will try and keep in touch

Also had a bit of a shock when I opened the post ,the electric bill was frightening!! have told John and David all TV are turned off at the mains. So is the stereo etc.I am at a loss to see how it is so high ,!!
So a great day went a bit pear shape.!!
Have to get some tidying up done now as I did not get any done with going out.

Dorothy Report 17 Jun 2009 14:13

goodmorning sorry about the electric bill brenda the cost is high over here especially in the winter as the building has electric heating though when I lived in my last house I had them come and check the meter as it was old and they found the fault was in the meter it was just running wild and my the did the cost go down when they put a new metor in I don't remember how they do it at home but if you have a similar system get them to come and check it. it is 70 at 9am this morning a little humid and rain in the forecast. next week is wimbledon I shall be on cloud nine. the oldest grandson bryan is on a school trip to quebec for 4 days and next week on the 24th is graduation from public school on to high school in sept. they have 75 students graduating so they each only get 4 tickets so at the moment it is mom and dad and me and a toss up between grandpa arthur or lindys mom grandma lorraine, but she has another grandaughter graduating on the same night in bolton and that is nearer to where she lives(kitchner) so we shall see what happens, I found the album of andrews school life from grade 1 to 8 so I will take it over for bryan to see, I am going to have to pop over and see the family doc one of these days as I am having a few episodes of angina I think that the meds need a bit of a change it only happens if I am walking and it is a bit breezy more frustrating than anything else I see on the other site that fred goes on that liz has had a death in her family my sympathies go out to the both of them maybe he will update us soon bye for now dorothy

Brenda Report 17 Jun 2009 21:12

Hi everyone, have nearly got over the electric bill, its actually a new meter Dorothy, only had it put in in April and the company have supposed to have dropped the prices by 9% in the last few months, might be because its an estimate, will have to get John to check the meter ,I can not get down into the cupboard under the stairs where it is.
Waether has changed for the worse, rain again and very heavy this afternoon.
Hope the medicine change works Dorothy, and the graduation goes ok.I used to love Wimbledon but have gone of it all a bit these days.Mind you the tenneis courts in the local park are very busy at this time of the year!
Not sure when I will be back as they have blocked us using our emails at work, and I am on a 12.30 to 8pm tomorrow, usually to tired to do anything when I get home.Wont be able to come on before I go as we have the plumber in doing the bathroom and its so nosiy.
Take care ,Brenda

Kathleen Report 18 Jun 2009 11:11

Good morning everyone, it's not a bad morning - bit cloudy and breezy but dry so hope to be able to tidy up a bit outside later.

Having the new boiler fitted - well it is fitted now, up and running and what a difference!! It should save me a fortune as it heats up so quickly. Two new radiators which completes what Chris had already done, much more efficient than the old ones, throws out more heat. Lovely man who is doing the work, will recommend him to Age Concern - very pleasant and doesn't leave loads of mess behind.

Can't stay any longer as he needs to switch the power off - it has been off most of the last couple of days so have to keep the computer turned off.

Catch up with you later.
Love
Kathleen

Hi all.glad you got your boiler sorted Kathleen,we are still in the middle of the new bathroom, each day something new has gone wrong. Two wrong baths have been sent ,we had a leak under the bath which we did not know about and don't know where the water has gone!!!and the new bath will not come til Monday leaving us without a bath or shower for nearly a week.Luckily we had been offered the use of a bath from some friends which we will have to take up either tomorrow night or Saturday.washing in the kitchen sink is not like I rememeber.!!
Hope everyone is ok .Speak to you tomorrow night Brenda

Dorothy Report 19 Jun 2009 14:02

hi oh brenda the visions of washing in the kitchen sink wow how far we have come Ihope that it all gets fixed for you soon, you and kathleen have really had a lot to put up with. nothing much new at the moment just getting the place in order as it will be tennis and not much of anything else for the next two weeks, though on monday the opening day I do have a training session re doing calls for this community pick up service I think I mentioned it about a year ago they have been doing some changes to the program, now one can do this from home , they called me and asked if I was still interested so I said yes it will give me something to do plus some extra cash which will help to-wards a ticket home next year, and people in the area like the calls as the service picks up clothes small household goods etc, the service also has a store that supplies clothes to people who may have lost their homes to fires or are down ontheir luck. next week they say we are due for a heat wave temps in the high 80-90's from one extreme to the other, hope we hear from fred soon bye for now dorothy

Morning all,all this talk of boilers ,baths and kitchen sinks ,crikey ,i think you lot with all these items going wrong has put the mokkers on my weather ,so stop it you hear ,Fred gets up this morning ,20 june ,nearly mid summer ,and has had to put the heating on.
I wouldn't worry too much about the missing water Brenda it couldn't have leaked much or it would have come through the ceiling,it has probably been absorbed by the wood and plaster.
Washing in the kitchen sink? i couldn't get IN the kitchen sink ,lol, not since i was a toddler in the war have i done that ,you lot must have all got Belfast sinks or even horse troughs he he.
Liz was pretty drained by the time we got home from the funeral and sat watching the cookery programmes for an hour or two ,but i don't think she was seeing anything if you know what i mean ,so come 9 pm ,i packed her off to bed.
I think it hit her that her cousin was younger than she, which makes one realise that we are all vunerable at that sort of age.
We have Jordan this weekend and Chris will be here by 10-30 am ,a full house lol,so i will do French Onion Soup for dinner with briosh, topped with Parmasan cheese, for tea ,lol ,i havn't a clue yet ,but i may do a madras curry ,or khorma which both the bairns like.
Have to take the boss her cuppa up now ,and see how she is this morning ,catch you later peeps Fred.

Morning Brenda, the trams were off last time we were down too ,so ,i hope they have nearly finished the lines by now,i miss my rides right round the system ,and of course ,our bus passes are valid country wide, which means i can leave the car on site and relax.
We are hoping to get down again in a few weeks ,it will be nice to see the place again.
You are on low fats and i am on that ,plus a low sugar diet too,so we must be on the same sort of foods.
Are you on cholesteral tablets then? they certainly help to keep the fat levels down ,and i still have a little cheese from time to time and manage to get away with it,by limiting the size of the portions.
The weather here is still darned lousy lot's of rain and wind ,and i isssss bored ,can't get into the garden ,and there is tons of stuff to plant out [sigh] maybe it's time to grasp the nettle with the changing weather patterns and start planting rice instead of brassica lol.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend despite conditions outside, and enjoying their time off.
Catch you all later. Fred.

They are tiling the bathroom tomorrow and should be finished by Wednesday (I hope).just have the sink to plumb in ,then the towel rail, which is like a radiator and then put the new cabinet up for us.
Might have that champers whenits all done Dorothy.

badger Report 22 Jun 2009 07:32

Weeeeell, what a morning here again ,cool ,a fret which is making everything damp, and it seems to be getting darker ,not lighter.
I did manage to get a load of stuff in last night after i had taken the bairns home, and am now left with just the beetroot and the late cabbage to go out.
I think for something to do ,i will go to town this morning for a mooch about ,a trip to the coast is a waste of time in this sort of weather.
Hi Dorothy ,he he ,kinky eh? never heard of champers in the bath before lol, whatever turns you on i suppose,or is it me that dosn't know how the other half lives ,the nearest i could manage is a glass of ginger beer he he.
We have the other female granddaughter stopping next weekend ,{Sophie] so ,if the weather is any better ,and that's a biiiig,if,we will go down Tynemouth for a picnic, you never know ,we may even bump in to Jenny if she is out and about.
Not long to go and our library reopens Brenda ,and i have loads of research to do ,that i can't do on line.plenty of skeletons rattling and waiting to get out of the cupboard methinks.
Nothing from Kathleen since she had the boiler and extra radiators put in ,wonder if she is lazing in the blessed warmth ,and also having one or two glasses of champers in the bath, could be catching this idea ,i had better hide the bottles we have, from Liz ,i have enough bother getting her out of the bath as it is he he.
Salad for dinner like me Brenda? with a little bit of grated dutch cheese and a red onion ,good for reducing the fat,my doc' told me to take a garlic capsule every night to help lower levels ,and it seems to work.
I like my sardines on toast too ,with a scraping of mustard on the toast instead of butter or marge, and a dusting of pepper and garlic powder ,you can't get more low fat than that.
I tend to use low fat mayo instead of salad cream because it is far lower in sugar and fat than salad cream which i use for sandwich fillings with egg ,or tuna and even use it on jackets ,one of my favourite meals ,as you say ,plenty of variety.
Time to go now and prise the wife out of bed ,gonna hide those perishing books of hers ,that way ,i may get her up at a decent hour lol.Catch you all later ,Fred.

Hi everyone
Gayle saw her surgeon a few days after 1 June comment, learnt a fistula was in her right arm just above the wrist. When the surgeon felt the area he said it felt as it was working which was then confirmed by an ultra-sound. The reason why they thought the fisula was working was due the severe swelling of her arm. Gayle sees the specialist on 17 July and we should know then when dialysis begins.
On Sunday I was 61 and today we celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary. Where has the years gone.
Take care, John
