Hi all,
Wil try and type a few lines for you as I have so much pain in my arm and shoulder. I have an appointment with the orthopaedic specialist but 4 weeks is a long time when you are in pain. My doctor told me I could take double tablets, which I have been doing, with the result more sleep! Yesterday I thought I would just have a "nap"after dinner and fell asleep between 6 and 7 pm and woke up artound 8.00 am this morning. I asked Johan where my coffee was, which is standard after dinner for us.
I wanted to go away with my daughter to England for a few days but now don't like to leave Johan. Last Thursday I found him in a coma (diabetes hypo) His blood sugar had dropped dangerously low without any warning.
If I hadn't been home he wouldn't be alive now.
My ex son in law, bless him, brought us some tomatoes, leeks, beans from his allotment.
We are spoilt. The two women upstairs who also have an allotment brought me some fresh beetroot in the week.
Have a nice weekend everybody.
Sylvia xxx

Hi all from a snuffly Fred who has the dratted cold ,but ,never mind ,lol, far better now than in 4 weeks he he.
Hi Dorothy, poor puddy tat will be well looked after ,or i wouldn't be going ,the son will be staying here while we are away ,so she will be getting spoilt rotten.
Hi Brenda ,still no signs of slowing down yeet i see ,what are we going to do with you ,seems as though you enjoy your little outings though ,so ,when you do retire ,you will no doubt know what to do with yourself.
Do take it easy Sylvia ,Johan too ,things won't run away in the meantime ,so take your time ,and smell the flowers, lolo.
I have two of the grandbairns here this long weekend ,but ,i think they both go home today ,this afternoon ,then Liz and i can chill out,and have a relaxed little tea ,with bread buns i baked last evening and some home made soup ,probably potato and leek.
The best time of year is this ,nearly stowed out with veggies now ,and spoilt for choice.
Hope all have a nice end to the holiday ,take care all Fred.

Morning all.yesterday I sat and wrote a really good long message ,only to press the wrong key in a hurry and loose it all!
well I wonder when the 81 degrees that the weather people promised for today will happen and where....... its certainly not round here.
Having a slightly lazy day ,have just "read "my emails all 8 where junk.I have a few sniffles as well Fred hope you haven't sent anything catching down the wire. LOL
Went looking for new blinds for the dining room and kitchen on Saturday and yesterday ,but haven't seen what I want, at a price I want to pay.My friends friend does make some and I am thinking of getting a quote ,they will be made to measure so maybe slightly more than I was thinking off ,but they will not need to be altered.Plus I can choose my own material.
Have some ironing to do shortly as we are expecting some friends to drop in sometime later today ,just for a coffe they are dropping one thing off and pick something up.
Sylvia hope you are feeling better and that Johann is keeping well.
Fred watch those snakes etc don't want you being laid up over there do we.!!!My friend has booked a few days at Beamish and the area around ,is that near you ?
Dorothy, had a walk round Bury market on Saturday ,just got some new cushion covers for the sofas and some chair seat pads for the dining chairs,to brighten them up.Nearly got cheese from the cheese stall ,for a bit of a treat ..but the queue was really long!! so did not bother. But did get some sea bass from the fish market ,Enjoy the tennis.and your new books.
Better go and see what the noise is that John is making down stairs!!.
I am working all day tomorrow so will hopefully be on at lunch time.
Take care ,Brenda

Hi brenda ,your friend will enjoy beamish which is about 8 miles down the a1 from here, there is a complete little village with school room , a village main street with the tram stopping there at the terminus a nice shop [coop] store selling old sweets and cheeses ,and a tea room on the back,a drift mine ,village fair ,a working farm you can visit a transport museum and it's own branch railway.
Some of it your friend may recognize because it features a lot in period dramas and the like which saves the film companies having to make sets for filming scenes,i noticed it in The Cinder path.along with other Catherine Cookson period drama/ romances, and a few war film dramas.
A walk round Chester Le street is worth it too ,loads of shops and a couple of places doing pub means ,real carvery stuff at reasonable prices.
Never been to Bury ,never mind the market ,but next time we are down we will be doing a bit more exploring around Blackpool and maybe even a return visit to Manchester.
Enjoy the Bass Brenda ,even better go fishing for the day and catch our own off the beach ,lol
catch you all later,Fred
we go quite a lot ,seeing how much has changed since the last visit.

goodmorning I have some news re the family last year my daughter in law was able to teach at a school only about 5 miles away as she was filling in for another teacher until yesterday she did not know if she would be back or not, well the principal(headmaster) called her in for another interview and she has been given the job again starting to-morrow she is very pleased. simco county school board had laid off a lot of teachers and retired teachers can return to work so many hours so it is hard for the new teachers to obtain contracts. as I have mentioned lindy went back to university to obtain her teaching degree 3yrs ago. so when school returns next tuesday lindy will be going out in the morning with the children as well. of course andrew called to tell me the news and then to see if I could pop over wed and thurs am to keep an eye on the kids as the teachers go in a few days ahead of the rest. so I will enjoy that the children will be making good use of the pool for the next few days. they are allowed one friend each over while using the pool as long as they all can swim, they are usually quite responsible and one of the other parents usually comes over to be life guard as I don't think that I could haul someone out if in trouble I can swim but days of life saving are over. the children have grown up with the rules re the swimming pool quite clear . it was a bit chilly this morning only 4 degree's but a beautiful sunrise and it is so clear you can see for miles it will be hot later I like this kind of weather bye for now dorothy

I did not get back on here last night as I wanted to do,was tired and had a few domestic things to do which took longer than I thought, any way we have a drier day at the moment but showers are supposed to be coming later.!!
I am working this afternoon ,but have to go out earlier to do an errand.
I am still trying to sort out this room and get rid of some paper work and books etc, will take the books to the charity shop on Thursday /Friday when I am off,The old paper work is eithert being shredded and put in the compost or burnt in the old barrel we have in the garden which is kept for that purpose.
Could do with a week of work just to do this room.!!!
Hope you are all ok,as I need to finish a bit of the sorting then get a shower and do my errand, see you soon.Take care Brenda

Hi,just a few words, the weather is blowing a gale, the rain is horrible, and I am feeling a bit depressed.
Couldn't get out to tidy the garden,or put out the washing,my sister was running late after an appointment so did not call, the front door seal appears to have given up the ghost as it has been letting in rain and the carpet is sodden!!
Not having a good week on the diet again!!!!
Hope everyone else is feeling in a better frame of mind what ever you are doing.

badger Report 4 Sep 2009 09:22

You too Brenda,we had the gales okay ,still very windy this morning ,but we only got a little rain.
The garden is nearly done for this year mostly cropping now ,storing the carrots and parsnips ,and the last cut of the hedges to do.We shred all of our paper and then compost it ,very little goes in the recycle bins ,why give the council compost to sell ,when we can make our own?
Have to be away quickly, housework to do and need the kitchen done first,as Liz needs the space to hang the washing.
Back this afternoon peeps .Fred.p/s Brenda ,you can get replacement seals now and the fitting is easy ,get one of your tribe to put them on for you.xxx

goodmorning sorry brenda and fred that your weather is so bad and I hope thatyou feel more cheerful soon brenda I won't tell you how nice our weather is , I have had a fun day and a half keeping an eye on the family and friends, on wednesday dI ended up with a total of seven boys and girls on and off all day and they were really good in and out of the pool , when lindy arrived home from school she decided they could all stay for supper so we bar-b qued and made a big veggie tray the kids cleared everyhting up then ian went for his guitar lesson and back in the pool they went I left about 8pm and they were all staying for a sleep over, so yesterday I was over about 8-15 they all surfaced about 10 having stayed up late talking, so breakfast was a combined effort of ceral pancakes and toast no one wanted bacon and eggs, then bryans three friends biked home and laura and her girlfriend were going to go shopping with angeliques dad for back to school clothes andrew arrived home about 10am from his business trip away and was surprised to see them all at the table or at least pretended to be surprised I am sure lindy phoned him at his hotel on wed eve, my sister has arrived in toronto and will be there till next thursday when she comes to me. I think that is all my news for this morning take care all of you bye for now dorothy

Afternoon all,its still wet here ,but not as windy,John could not play golf the ground was still wet,so he came shopping with me.!!!!
Had a "brunch" in Morrisons cafe for a treat ,I had the light traditional breakfast scrambled egg ,grilled bacon tomatoes, and wholemeal toast without butter.John had the ordinary traditional breakfast ,fried bacon ,two fried eggs, tomatoes and two thick slices of white toast with butter. It was ok.but we struggled to finsh it all as we have really cut back on the size of the meals we have.
Glad the grand children and yourself had a good time Dorothy, and thanks for not mentioning the weather ,its really like mid wimter again here ,have a top and two cardigans on and me socks!!!
Thanks for the tip about the seal Fred will tell John and get him searching for it.,don't see why I have to sort everything out.
Working tomorrow then have a christening on Sunday which I am looking forward to.Hope fully will get back here tomorrow at lunch time.
Time to get the tea on,Take care ,Brenda

Someone else thinking of going to bed and pulling the covers over the head ,he he,can't say as i blame you Brenda ,the start of September and we have the heating on brrrrr.
Never mind ,the warm weather is supposed to return mid week [yeah ,i will believe that when i see it ].
I got the second coat of paint on the bathroom ceiling straight after dinner ,and am now chilling out, after doing my hot matches. and emails.
Three weeks and counting woo hoooooo. who has already got the cases packed ready to go ,lol.
Not a lot to do in the garden now ,most of the parsnip and carrot are now dying back ,and can stay where they are until needed ,the beans are kapput, and the rest are taking on heft well ,so i should be okay for the winter.
i di a nice cauli' poleaski for the dinner with a few new tatties and a carrot, kale mix,it went down well ,and gives me yet another cauli dish for a change .
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend ,Fred.

Morning Dorothy and what a good one,i have already been out back to remove all the french bean plants from the pots, because they have finished ,and pulled a few beetroot for dinner tomorrow, or tea, some being destined for a hot veg' [lovely] and some for salads, all in bright sunshine ,wow ,i may even get the back lawn cut this afternoon if the rain holds off .
We have two of the grand bairns here this weekend, and have been asked to do a curry ,which i don't mind doing ,so easy to knock up once you have the basic sauce made up.
we are off shopping for a while this afternoon seeing as we still need a few small bits for the cases.
Woooo Hoooo ,nearly down to the 27th of the month and by this time on that day ,we will be in the med' getting near to Paphos airfield and sun ,sun and more sun ,lol.
Never tried beef wellington as i prefer cooking my own beef from source and prefering the irish way of cooking it [corned beef] ,which tastes amazing, but ,i may get the pastry cook of the house to make one using corned beef which should be extra tasty.
Back tomorrow going to try on my shorts ,he he ,[says badger ,rubbing it in ]
Catch you all tomorrow Fred.
