thanx to all the positive replies, i hope i can still talk to you all, this is gonna be a hard week for me, phone calls home visits and god knows what.... but..... bring it on cos i`m not in the mood to be taken advantage of.. we have people who are understanding about things.. and the school who just wanna get rid of what they cannot handle, my on-track mentor tried to explain how jamie will have felt to the headmaster and he asked her if 'she' should be running the school so to me that makes him a w***er and he`s not ready to cope with kids that need help... and if you lot don`t think the same then tough. i know what i think and i`ve a few people on here that know as well so if you haven`t got kids or have 'perfect' kids do not bother with advise it wont be aknowleged. thanx to everyone whos giving me help and support sharon |

Sharon,Well done.I have kept quiet. My youngest daughter went to a school before she started in the 6 weeks holidays for 2 weeks to get to know the school? They took her phone off of her and read all her text messages in front of her at break time. They passed her phone on to all members of staff in front of her. Then told her to delete her messages. When hubby and me confronted them and took them to the headmaster she was bullied by all members of staff. We took her away from this school when in year 9 after she had not one day away from detentions the first the 2nd day she started. We put her into another school and she blossomed.Had all brilliant results and never another detention.. Hi Ann So your granddaughter is enjoying school at last, that's good. Kids are allowed their mobiles in school but they must be turned off during school hours. Failure to do this & she will get a detention. Has she had a detention yet at this school ? If not she may be eligible for the No C3 (no detention) trip for her year. Kyles got a choice of Thorpe Park, outdoor pursuits centre, colchester zoo, cadbury world or the natural history museum. He chose Thorpe park followed by outdoor pursuits centre for 2nd choice. All trips range from free, to £5 to £12. Kids who behave in the school get rewarded whilst the kids that dont behave have the incentive to behave, if they dont, its their loss as they watch them board the coaches as they do their daily lessons. ps Hals been moved to locke ward : still no update & Daves going to visit him tomorrow as hes home early o)) Elaine x |

I have not read all th posts to this thread, i just felt that i wanted to say in reply to the gentleman who said on page 2 'It does seem to me that there is too many excuses are made these days made on the grounds of Special Needs. Surely Special Needs suggest a disability of some sort? In my day, you new exactly where the boundaries of good and bad behaviors were. Dare to cross the line and you were caned, strapped, slippered or whatever.' obviously i do not know how old you are or when 'your day' was but just bear in mind that until very recently kids with special needs , whether emotional, behavioral or physical were taken away and locked up in lunatic asylums, or borstal. Now i know from experience how difficult it is to have a kid in your childs class who is pushing out of control at school, i also know from my work how some parents are desperate for help for their children but no one seems to be able to give them what they need..........none of it is ideal...but i still wouldn't want it to go back to the days when these kids were considered mad and locked up....would u? |

Sharon have been reading but not added earlier. I think from your comments the head is an idiot, just like the one my son had years ago, who couldn't see what was under his nose. He only championed the kids who were into sport and always pushed the school sports teams to the detriment of other kids. He took on two teachers job sharing, one was in her first teaching post for five years and she was hopeless, would set the kids work and then not follow up what they had done the following Monday, having been off since Wednesday pm when the second teacher took over on Weds lunchtime. My son never did finish off all his work from that year and had got into such bad habits but despite my efforts nothing was done for him and others from that class to make up the work and learn to complete stuff. Some heads are useless and it sounds as tho your son has been picked on constantly - never mind ' pushing him to the limit' that is making his teaching confrontational, so no wonder the lad kicks back. Hope you can get him sorted at the new school so he can progress and be happy. Liz |

Have only just seen this thread and going back to Elaine's message on page 1 about children not being allowed to go to the toilet during lessons, I am HORRIFIED. When I was about 8, I saw a commotion at the bottom of our street just after school had finished and there was a poor young lad who had messed himself, he just stood there with it all down his leg and a big crowd had gathered around him. I felt so sorry for him and he just cried ' the teacher wouldn't let me go to the toilet' That incident and another similar has affected me my whole life, I am now in my 40's. If I go anywhere where I can't get to a toilet easily, if I need to, I immediately need to go. Good Luck Sharon! |

Hi Tracy Obviously if a child is busting which they shouldn't be if they went to the loo at lunch/break etc they would be allowed to go to the loo, same if they need to go if they have an upset tum...or if a girl had her period. Normally apart from something being wrong with the child at the time, they get to use the toilet at designated times, before school, after school, during break and lunchtime. The reason for this, is too many disruptive kids use the excuse of needing the loo to take time out from lessons. Also if a child decides to hide in the loo en route to another lesson in the large school, they may hide in the loo, as I suspect had happened in the past. Again the actions of some have spoilt it for others. In primary, they are discouraged from using the loo outside these times, but are reminded only and never prevented from using the loo. Ann The school is pretty decent isnt it ?? Elaine x |

Hi Elaine It never occurred to me that children would hide in toilets! I understand why they are discouraged but the thought of toilets being locked fills me with dread. Tracey x |

had a phone call today. they may have found a place for next monday, she`s gonna get back to me for us to go and visit. it`s a Pupil Referral Unit known as PRU so hope this is gonna help him. the mental health nurse says he`s a normal happy kid and just has a 'spark' that he needs to learn to control. he seems to be coping fine he just doesn`t like being critisised and doesn`t know how to cope with it. when he was younger he was a 'watcher'. he watched his older brother get into trouble for things and made sure he didn`t do the same thing, which meant he never got wrong for very much so maybe that`s the problem. he`s gone to secondary school and feels he`s being 'got at' a lot of the time and he`s not used to it..i really think he`s finding it hard to adjust to secondary school(so many diff teachers etc) because he`s a lovely kid until he gets upset. he`s been fine over the holidays and as soon as he went back that was it. sharon. sos grannie, getting carried away. hope things are ok with you !!! |
