Hi Barbra :-D

I know, we talk about going back to the places we knew when much younger but realise that we are thinking of nearly forty years ago. I remember the various changes whilst we were living in the UK so would not recognise them now.

Old houses that I lived in have been demolished as has my old High School in Didsbury :-0

I thin that someone is trying to get a message across to me ;-) :-D :-D

Your contributions will be missed, but you will still be able to follow the various threads :-D

Regards to you and your family

I failed English Lit. because I (a) didn't understand 'The History of Mr Polly' and
(b) didn't find an attempted suicide humerous!
Had we had the 'other' book - 'Lord of the Flies'. which I read the year before my 'O' levels, I would have passed, as understood THAT book perfectly.

Although I didn't study Eng. Lit as an O level subject we did have set books as part of the English language curriculum, as well as studying Shakespeare.

Our set books were ones like 'The Call of the Wild', King Solomon's Mines' and the like. I suppose that I attended an all boys' school we did not have the distraction of girls to contend with, although our hormones, as well as humour still went through their normal processes :-D :-D

Plus, I've always enjoyed reading. It really doesn't matter what the subject or genre is, I find that books tend to fire my imagination, and as my imagination is a raging furnace I dread to think what might have happened if I got stuck in the pornographic phase of my literary diet :-D :-D

I read a very interesting article on the Internet recently.

Apparently, Norway is putting bar-codes on all its warships so that when, after being at sea, they return to Port they can Scandinavian

There was a young lady named Breeze,
Weighed down by B.A's. and Litt. D's
She suffered a pain,
Alas, it was plain,
That she was killing herself by degrees

An Indian builder fell through the roof of a building where Lionel Ritchie was appearing

An eye witness stated “I looked up and there was Dan Singh on the ceiling “

Had a most memorable meal yesterday

Fried egg, two grilled sausages, four rashers of short cut bacon, mushrooms and a tin of tomatoes (sans tin, of course) :-D :-D

It has been ages since I had a (partial) fry up :-D

Oh yes, I almost forgot, also had a nice bread roll to mop up all the lovely yolk and tomato juice
