Gin...took a look at that site tonight that had something under Wils relating to a Joseph Ellis Whitford Dist. It still won't let me see the image. however I searched all things Joseph Ellis/ Whitford and this came up.

Text
Ellis, Joseph, wid., Whitford, Flintshire to Jones, Mary, wid., Llanasa, Flintshire :
Marriage at Whitford.
Year:1834
Found:Flintshire (2) Whitford (2)

I think this is the same thing as same year...it's a marriage bond

Interesting Ann :-D

That marriage certificate came this morning.

Married 31st May 1873, gives age as 21, occupation - pitman, father- Joseph Ellis, pitman (doesn't say "deceased").

Not much more info, though his father may not have been a farmer after all :-)

Well I'll be blowed Gin...was going to say to you that the set up was strange. Him down as Farmer and not Farm Lab....would suggest he had his own farm or was a tenant.....so to not have his son working alongside...against going down the pit sounded unusual.
