OneFootInTheGrave Report 4 Sep 2014 09:25

The Times sums up this ridiculous situation created by the authorities:-

"It took five days for the state’s case against Ashya King’s parents to collapse. Five days of increasing public outrage as it became clear that the authorities who were accusing the Kings of cruelty and neglect were in fact guilty of it themselves. In the name of protection they forcibly separated a seriously ill child from the people who loved and cared for him, handcuffed and jailed his parents, forbade his brothers and sisters from visiting him, and placed Ashya under police guard in a foreign hospital where neither his nurses nor the officers could communicate with him."

I think we will now see various enquiries being launched into what happened, these enquiries will cost the taxpayer thousands of pounds - they will probably cost far more than the cost of the specialist treatment that Ashya's parents want for him :-S

Media hype of how the hosptial handled Ashyas stay in hosptial,,,Joe Public wasnt allowed access so how does anyone know<?,,,,,,,,we dont know that there wasnt english or english speaking staff doing his care.

Any guarding was possibly done incase some screwball tried to take him, thinking they were doing the family a service,

At last sanity prevails

OneFootInTheGrave Report 6 Sep 2014 08:35

According to some reports, it appears, that Ashya will remain a Ward of Court until he actually arrives at the Proton Therapy Centre in Prague, at that point he will cease to be a Ward of Court.

The High Court Judge Mr Justice Baker, who is dealing with the case, is expected at a hearing to be held this coming Monday, to explain why he decided to rescind the Ward of Court Order and return Ashya to his parents - that might make interesting reading.

I hope that all goes to plan and that Ashya arrives, as soon as is practicable, at the centre in Prague and that he will benefit from the treatment he is going to receive there.

This whole saga reminds me of a couple of episodes of the television series - Judge John Deed.

Not a lot of comment from Southampton Hospital (unsurprisingly since someone suggested the family might sue) but the Paediatric Dept now require all parents taking a child from the ward to sign giving a time they will return according to local news.

OneFootInTheGrave Report 8 Sep 2014 07:48

The hospital in Malaga that treated Ashya King has confirmed that five year old Ashya has left the facility with his family to travel to a clinic in Prague.

After leaving the Materno Infantil hospital, five year old Ashya boarded a plane heading for the clinic in Prague where it is hoped he will undergo proton therapy treatment.

The journey to the airport took place in an ambulance, and from the airport he left in an airplane fully equipped with everything necessary to ensure he can receive any treatment he may need during the flight to Prague.
