just a thought... Has anybody considered that just possibly there may be people on here who are actual "victims" and don't wish to see thread after thread about the topic.

Has anyone considered that there are possibly people on here who are victims, and by seeing threads on the subject, would give them the courage to seek help, and also there isn't thread after thread on the subject. nobody has asked me to remove this thread, but I have had a pm thanking me for putting it on, because it helped them.
It's by not discussing abuse, it's swept under the carpet.

What would be distressing for victims of sexual abuse is seeing posts that ask why people come forward years after the abuse happened.

I think threads such as this will encourage victims rather than the opposite - it is better to discuss it openly rather than behind closed doors

Sexual Abuse has been swept under the carpet for too long and thank goodness the poor victims are coming forward to get help and see their abusers put in prison for what they did to the children/teenagers wether they are boys or girls.
They hopefully will be believed even if it happened 50/60 yrs ago. It doesn't matter when it was it still ruins the victims for all their life.
We don't live in the Victorian era when nothing was done about abusers and the abused had to keep quiet or not be believed.
I say to all the abused please come forward and show your abusers that you have courage and are very brave.
I had 3 members of my family sexually abused and I went to court with them because their abusers thought they would get away with it if they pleaded Not Guilty.
The abusers thought the 3 victims wouldn't turn up for the case. As soon as the abusers saw them they pleaded guiltyas they knew that if they had still pleaded Not Guilty the prison sentence would have been a lot longer.
12,10 and 15 years sentence in prison but that is a light sentence for them compared to the abused who have to live with the memories all their lives.

Please remember the psychologically abused.
One day a famous narcissistic parent will get their comeuppance and then the floodgates will open.
Oh well,I can dream.

It was already done a number of years ago with the book and movie "Mommy Dearest" about the actress Joan Crawford. There are a few discussions about her on the internet.

I was thinking about that.
There was a time when sexual abuse was ignored just as psychological abuse is now.
It will come.
Anyway that is not what the thread is about.
Sorry for hijacking it.

Actually Sharron this is a bit of what the thread is about because many of these famous people develop a degree of narcissism that gives them the sense of entitlement to committ these crimes As for being annoyed by these threads The worst thing for the victims of sexual abuse and attempted sexual abuse is watching people perpetuate the BULLSHIT that comes out of the offenders mouths Bobtanian .... Classic example do you really think that young women spurned by famous men harbour grudges and come back many years later to plead assault just to tarnish these mens stellar reputations!! You have obviously never been subjected to one of these cases or you would know how ridiculous that statement is You do not get to just make unproven statements and have the crown prosecution taking everyone to court There has to be a good chance of a conviction and the pulling together of evidence before they even consider it As I said before it is attitudes like these that make Britain one of the most difficult places to get convictions for sexual assault As for all the people who know the poor innocent blokes Again a load of crap not born out by statistics The reality is half of these guys are astonished there pasts catch up with them They are smug in the knowledge they got away with things They play their supporters like fiddles and I would say unless you were under the same roof and out with the offender at all times you wouldn't have a bloody clue They know how unacceptable their behaviour is so they sure as hell aren't honest about it This Stuart Hall is a great example. He shouted his innocence from the rooftops and people who didn't know diddly about him supported him Yet he is Guilty That wee 9 year old he assaulted was in her own home in her bedroom while he was supposedly attending a dinner party with her parents
Bill Roache told reporters last year he had slept with more than 1000 women He also said that men that had sex with underage girls should be forgiven and implied that people were responsible for their own sexual abuse
Rolfe Harris is under investigation over a number of women. U K police have flown to Australia to interview a women who believes she witnessed Rolfe Harris in a bathroom a couple of decades ago committing some kind of inappropriate act Not seen the interview yet but before someone flaps about poor Rolfe it was reported on our national news last night so watch that space.
Good on you Lynda for posting this thread and I hope like hell that not only do those that suffered abuse come forward but that perpetrators who have enjoyed the comforts of life whilst there victims have lived lives of hell are terrified that the long arm of the law is going to tap them on their shoulders sometime real soon

Sharron, abuse is abuse, however it happens, you have not hijacked this thread you have contributed well to it, thank you.
We don't want to go back in time and not talk about abuse, that's what abusers would like. They would like it if nobody talked about it, most of all there victims, then they could carry on abusing. Hard luck abusers, you've been sussed.
Tania you're a star, you've said it in a nutshell. No wonder I like you so much <3

I'll copy this direct ( Huffington Post) , without comment, except to say I have already fallen foul of someone by disagreeing 'previously' and the knife is poised at my back for daring to do so.
"The "trailblazing" research, the first of its kind, has discovered that false allegations of rape and domestic violence are "very rare", with only a very small number of cases where there was enough evidence and it was considered in the public interest to prosecute.
Around two false rape allegations are made every month, the report found.
Starmer said he hoped the figures would help counter any "over-cautious" approach to allegations, especially in the light of the Jimmy Savile scandal.
Starmer said: "In recent years we have worked hard to dispel the damaging myths and stereotypes that are associated with these cases.
"One such misplaced belief is that false allegations of rape and domestic violence are rife. This report presents a more accurate picture.
"Where false allegations of rape and domestic violence do occur however, they are serious - reputations can be ruined and lives can be devastated as a result."
My only other comment on this is that it is VERY important to read facts in all cases, and if you can't do that wait for a jury to do so.

Tania....agree with every you have said, bloody well done!!!
l did agree with Errol in the fact that some will find this thread difficult but most including myself find this quite theraputic.
As SueMaid says its the one's who add stupid remarks like "why do people take so long to tell their stories"
In my case my father is not here now to be dealt with, but he subjected atleast 4 members of my family to sexual, mental and physical abuse....most of this we have only just found out, if he was alive now he would be in prison or dead after l had got hold of him!!! so there lots of reasons why people don't come forward....my family were shit scared to be honest He was a so called respected member of the public and the forces....an absolute bastard!!

I have read of cases coming to court where abuse has falsely been claimed but, as previously stated,I have known a man who was completely exhonerated and this never published.
For the sake of fairness,if nothing else, those who have been accused should also have their innocence made public.

Whoever has a knife your back Rose, should be ashamed of themselves. I also have a "follower" who tries to discredit threads I post, or add to, they think that they do it discreetly, but it's so obvious, others have noticed and pm'd me about it, they tried it before, left then came back to do it again, how sad.
I'm all for making sure that if anyone is proved innocent it's publicised everywhere, and those who lied to get a conviction, should themselves be punished severely.

I was just reading the article about how the inquiry began with an anonymous letter to Jasmin A??libhi-Brown and acouple of thoughts ocurred to me.
One was the fact that the letter was from an articulate, intelligent woman who could compose such a letter. She could make her case well. A less intelligent girl would have a very difficult time. So many of us who were abused by narcissists have been unable to articulate our case and so could not discuss it with anybody because it was not just one big incident but many, many tiny ones.Impossible to describe to anybody without causing yourself a great deal of distress,so it is put back to fester in the mind.
The second thought I had was that, when some of these incidents occurred, rape victims had no anonymity. Can you imagine how the News of the World would have take these girls apart?
